Simple Ways to Start Your Year

For those of you who have followed along in our adventures over the years, you’ll notice that I am usually wearing amber jewellery in the photos we share. This is the moment where now you’ll probably ask yourself if you noticed, and take a minute to see what I mean here. Many friends have actually commented on them in person and I usually talk about how I love to pick up a piece of jewellery when we visit Mexico. For some reason I have always found myself drawn to Mexican amber in particular.

Amber, for those of you who don’t know, has “properties” that are one of the reasons why I wear it. Known to absorb pain and negative energy, helping to alleviate stress, clearing depression, encouraging decision-making, spontaneity and bringing wisdom, balance and patience. Not to mention it is known to protect it’s wearer. This is where one of my favourite ways to start a fresh year comes in. Yes, we’re going to talk about crystals and gems for a minute. The World’s Largest Audiobook Library — From A to Z(ed)

In September, when Daniel went to Montreal to help launch Audible in Canada, I was so excited that Canadians were going to also be able to enjoy the magic of this wonderful tool, that I was lucky enough to experience with Audible.com in the US. If you’re not familiar with Audible, it’s a platform linked to Amazon.ca that offers the world’s largest audiobook library right at your fingertips! It not only features bestsellers from around the word, but it also has an growing catalogue of books written and narrated by Canadians. Let’s not forget that they have an expanding collection of French-language titles to select from as well!!

So, Who Wants To Go To Bermuda?

I was sitting in my parent’s condo, gazing out at the water and daydreaming about travel, as I always am. But, I’m especially drawn to water. The sky was so beautiful and the clouds were a pink hue as the sun was setting.  I was enraptured by the pink clouds, which are the result of the scattering of sunlight by the atmosphere.  Looking down at my hands, they were also pink…. from the impending frostbite.  You see it was -21, before factoring in the windchill and the temperature on the 20th floor balcony (approximately -50, without a jacket, mittens and a hat). Yuck.
