Stepping Up My Summer BBQ Game

Anyone else find themselves sitting the sun smiling and feeling a certain sense of relief? Maybe it’s just me, but the world feels lighter and brighter these days. Amid the realities we are all living, there is something to be said about the simple pleasures in life. Canada’s Wonderland is Back, and so is The #WonderCrew!

With the excitement of the summer, of the freedom that vaccinations are bringing, and just a general sense of overwhelming relief comes signs that life’s beautiful moments are coming back as well. From being able to see my niece and nephew outside for family BBQs months after moving to Ottawa, to resuming one of my absolute favourite parts of the warmer weather in Ontario – yes, you guessed it. Canada’s Wonderland is safely re-opening and with that comes another year of Julio & I joining the #WonderCrew. So get ready for many more rollercoaster photos, BTS moments, food and so much laughter in the sun.

Here’s why I’m not keeping anymore beauty secrets

Recently Julio has been sharing a lot about beauty and celebrity culture online via his social media channels and it really got me thinking. For years I’ve read and written about ‘beauty secrets’ because that was the narrative of the time we lived in. We have been programmed as a society to search out those miracle beauty treatments and quick fixes that can make us look like those magazine covers and celebrities and for so long we all thought that one cream, one treatment, one food could make it all better. I’m here to tell you that the fact is there isn’t one beauty trick that can help you look like Jennifer L. (don’t feel like getting sued) and, trust me, it’s not just olive oil. It’s a lot of moving pieces and turns out, I’m okay with talking about it.
