Food & Wine | Burnt Ship Bay Estate Winery scores BIG!

As an avid wine lover I am always on the hunt for the latest & greatest in the Canadian Wine market.  Most people grimace at the thought of Canadian wine based upon one or two bad experiences. What they don’t realize is that Canadian Wine in general, both out of Ontario and the West Coast, is some of the best in the world. One of the newest releases that I am excited to tell you about is that of Burnt Ship Bay Estate Winery out of the Niagara-On-The-Lake region of Ontario. This new wine has stolen my heart and will surely do the same for you. It might even make a believer out of the “Anti-Canadian” wine drinkers in the world. Let me tell you why!

Fresh of the grape press, this wine baby is already making waves in the world of wine lovers. The brainchild of wine maker families, the Puglisi and Morgenstern, this new brand has recently landed the official wine supplier listing for the Hockey Hall of Fame.

“Burnt Ship Bay Winery is named after a little bay in the Upper Niagara River, where in 1759, during the Seven Years’ War it became the final resting place for some treasure laden French ships.”

So small that they don’t even have an official website or facebook page as of yet, this small batch production aims to show the world that Canadian wine can win the hearts of hockey and wine lovers alike. CEO Luciano Puglisi said, “It is an honour to have our hand crafted wines served during numerous events at this iconic memorial to Hockey’s greatest players.”

The small production and huge demand most certainly caught my eye when it came to discovering this new brand. For those of you looking for it in your local liquor store, you’ll have to wait a little longer. Or why not take a visit to one of Toronto’s most popular tourist attraction, @HockeyHallFame to give @BurntShipBay a try for yourself. To my fellow Torontonians, I always love to play tourist in the city I live. I hope that you will do the same and try out what I’m sure will be the first of many Burnt Ship Bay Estate Winery glasses of wine.

Stay tuned as www.burntshipbay.com is on its way soon!

  1. Hello!

Could you please tell me where we can buy your burnt ship bay wine in red. We were at a restaurant in Niagara on the lake and a waiter recommend your wine. It was the most amazing wine we ever had. We live in Mississauga and we went twice back to see if we could find it.
I hope to hear from you with more advice thank you and happy thanksgivings
