Food & Wine | How Nespresso has helped to make me a morning person

By now you’ll know that Nespresso has become an integral part of my daily life – but for 32 years I have to admit I have never been a morning person. Some people are and some people aren’t, but I can say with certainty that I wasn’t for my entire life. I worked better at night, I needed several alarms strategically placed around the room (somehow, in my sleep I would be a ninja and turn them off…) and I was just a grumpy man for the first few hours of my day. With the addition of a new Nespresso Prodigio and an easy to use app, I now have coffee waiting for me every morning and shockingly… I’ve become a morning person thanks to Nespresso. I guess you can teach an old dog new tricks!

For those of you who follow our adventures on social media, you’ll have seen that we recently stayed at The Windsor Arms Hotel with friends and fellow Nespresso lovers to celebrate the launch of the NEW Solelio & Giornio, two new Vertuoline Grand Crus flavours. At that point I really needed a night away with Julio and it came just in time for us to get away and wake up in the best way possible.

Joining in on the worldwide celebrations of two new Grand Crus, we were lucky enough to sit down to breakfast at the Nespresso Cafe in Toronto with the one and only Ricardo who is also celebrating the launch of his new breakfast bars. These healthy additions to my daily life were created to compliment the complexity and flavour profile of these two new Grand Crus Nespresso coffees and I can say with certainty that they showcase his understanding and love for Nespresso. Not to mention that I’m a sucker for anything French Canadian!

So what are the two new additions to the Nespresso family of coffees all about?

Solelio offers “toasted cereal notes that are enriched by delicate red fruit aromas associated with Kenyan and Colombian Arabicas, giving rise to a well-balanced and lightly roasted morning blend.”

Giornio “coffee first expresses toasted cereal tones, followed by subtle white floral notes characteristic of Ethiopian Arabica; this is awakened by the acidity of Kenyan Arabica. All are harmoniously combined in this medium roasted morning blend.”

As someone who loves the VertuoLine I was so excited to be one of the first to try the two new flavours and have been making them daily as part of my new routine. When I wake up nice and early to walk Canela and head to the gym, their welcoming aroma fills the condo and helps to get me out of bed. Who knew that the addition of quality made coffee could help to make a morning person out of a self-proclaimed night owl?! Don’t believe me? I dare you to try them out for yourself and not feel the same way!
