Food & Wine | It’s time to #DevourLife with Carnivor Cabernet Sauvignon

For those of you who have followed the adventures of DoTheDaniel.com, you’ve come to realize how much I love wine. I am fortunate enough to work with wineries from around the world and every time I try a new brand, it’s as though I am travelling the world in every sip.  The latest addition to my personal wine collection has been Carnivor Wines‘ Cabernet Sauvignon from California. This playfully named bottle of wine immediately peaked my interest and I am so excited to tell you all about it!

To celebrate the arrival of Carnivor Wines’ 2013 Cabernet, they recently hosted an event here in Toronto. Although I sadly was unable to attend due to several events that night, I followed along with the #CarnivorTO hashtag to see my colleagues and friends enjoying a beautiful evening with a beautiful wine. (Make sure to follow the hashtag on social media to see what I mean.)

The always handsome Jason Phin, Carnivor Sommelier & Wine Ambassador, helped to showcase the wine and pair it alongside a slew of delicious meat heavy dishes at Toronto’s Shark Club. Among more handsome men (I’m sensing a theme), some of Toronto’s best had the opportunity to see what I have also come to learn – Carnivore Cabernet Sauvignon is a wine you will fall in love with and lust after. Paired beautifully with hearty meat dishes, it also makes a great pairing with dark chocolate and strawberries should the evening go in that direction… Trust me.

This playfully named bottle of wine embodies everything I imagine when I think of Californian Cab. As you pour a glass, you are immediately going to smell the subtle sweetness behind the grape and a smokiness to balance it out. At your first sip, the flavours will immediately coat the inside of your mouth and include coffee, blackberries and will finish with a vanilla silkiness. This is not a meak wine and should not be taken lightly for those of you out there looking for a beautiful bottle of wine for your next dinner party or host gift.

“Just as Cabernet Sauvignon, the “King of Reds,” resides in the upper echelons of the wine world, the carnivore sits atop the food chain. Inspired by these two kings, Carnivor is a sophisticated wine whose bold, intense flavor is matched by a refined mouthfeel.”

You learned how to pour a beer in college, now it’s time to learn how to pour a glass of wine.

Did I also mention that the marketing behind the brand includes beautiful men? With a sense of Mad Men-esque sexiness, bold flavours and playful social media, Carnivor Wines have become one of my newest favourites to keep in the house.

For those Ontario fans out there, make sure to click here to see your nearest LCBO and availability. For our American readers, check the Carnivor Wines website for local distribution, since as they so coyly state: “AVAILABLE IN SELECT HIGH BROW AND LOW LIGHT ESTABLISHMENTS. PLEASE CALL (855) 366-9463 FOR LOCATIONS.”

To get inspired by the beautiful men and wines of Carnivor Wines & the delicious wines it produces, follow @CarnivorWine on Twitter and Instagram. Use the #DevourLife hashtag to join in on the social media conversation and let us know your thoughts.
