You have questions, and The Mobile Shop has answers.

I like to believe that 2016 was a year of lessons and learning how to avoid making the same ones. You’ll have of course seen that I am so excited to have partnered with President’s Choice as one of their #DiscoverPC team members. We have been given an amazing opportunity to explore not only delicious food, but also all the other incredible experiences that are available to Canadians from coast-to-coast. To kick off an exciting partnership, the team at President’s Choice invited some of us in Toronto to join them at a local Loblaws for a food photography 101 and to learn about The Mobile Shop. Come see what I found out and how you too can have those pesky questions answered!

Before this delicious meet up with some of my favourite people, I can admit that I didn’t know a whole lot about The Mobile Shop. I am a happy Rogers customer and was unaware of the wide variety of services that were offered right in store for anyone! Not only for PC Mobile customers, the friendly staff are there to help you with your service provider, find the latest phone, or just answer a question that has been nagging at you about your phone. I was SO impressed with their willingness to help, though it should come as no shock since that seems to run through every experience I’ve ever had in store. To say I was impressed would be an understatement, and I left feeling genuinely appreciated as a customer. I regularly find myself stopping in now when we are doing our weekly grocery shopping to see what new phones or information I can grab to read as we peruse the store.

The food photography part was of course a fun added part of the day, where it was a meeting of the minds in the blogger realm. Along with my fellow #DiscoverPC team members, we styled and shared our favourite items from the #PCInsidersCollection. And okay, maybe I snuck in a snack or two while we were learning. Who could resist! With so many delicious items found on the holiday “Sea-cuterie” board (a twist on the classic Charcuterie idea with delicious seafood taking the stage)

When it comes to photography along with delicious food, here are a few tips to help you take your best photos:

  1. Always incorporate your primary ingredients in the photo. For example, if I was to stage a food photo featuring the delicious PC BLACK LABEL PISTACHIO SPREAD, I would ensure the jar is in the photo and maybe pair it with PC Sesame Seed and Quinoa Brown Rice Crackers and sprinkle the photo with some roasted pistachios.
  2. Don’t clutter your photo with too many items. Let a few quality ingredients be the star of the show
  3. People love to see hands in the photo. It offers a more personal touch and allows the person seeing the image you create to feel as though they can reach in and enjoy the delicious food with you
  4. Use the rule of thirds:

“The theory is that if you place points of interest in the intersections or along the lines that your photo becomes more balanced and will enable a viewer of the image to interact with it more naturally.

Studies have shown that when viewing images that people’s eyes usually go to one of the intersection points most naturally rather than the center of the shot – using the rule of thirds works with this natural way of viewing an image rather than working against it.”

Using these tips along with some delicious food from your local President’s Choice grocer will ensure your photos are the best they can be!
