Lifestyle | Power Institute’s One Stop Fitness Shop

Recently I had the opportunity to stop by Power Institute for a workout that is bar none, one of the best I have ever had. Power Plate is a workout technology that celebrities like Cindy Crawford, Karl Lagerfeld & Matthew McConaughey all swear by. And why, do you ask? Because it works and the results are felt after your very first workout. Alongside my trainer Ron, I was put through your average Power Institute first time visit. Although still fighting off a cold and suffering from a throbbing migraine, I did my best to bring you my review of this one stop fitness shop in the heart of downtown Toronto.

Power Institute offers an intimate fitness centre which tailors your workout to your needs. Alongside some of the best personal trainers in the city and state of the art exercise equipment, this space is welcoming right when you walk in the door. No loud music blaring, no crowded change rooms and no waiting for the equipment you want to use. The trainers help to customize a full body workout to your specifics and not some pre-programmed corporate culture. I was made to feel like I wasn’t just a number and monthly fee. What a novelty!

The Power Plate technology is one of a kind and there is a reason why celebrities and fitness buffs alike love it. The scientific explanation would tell you that “Acceleration Training with Power Plate machines creates instability in the human body, as with each movement on the plate the body is forced to perform reflexive muscle actions, multiple times per second.” So what does that mean? The plate you stand upon in fact vibrates and moves. As you use it to perform various exercises, your body is in fact constricting and balancing itself the entire time. Think of yourself trying to stay balanced with your core in every move, every stretch and every exercise. They aren’t kidding when they say it is a full body workout. I’m still shaking from it!

Prices vary depending on what you are looking for, the intensity and the number of sessions you wish to have. Although it might seem expensive, each and every session is alongside a trainer working with you through each and every move. And the best part? Because of the intensity, sessions don’t have to last 3.5 hours. They in fact can range from 30-60 minutes three times a week and you will see an improvement in your physical performance almost immediately. This all sound too good to be true? I dare you to try Power Institute’s intimate workout and tell me I’m wrong.

Last, but certainly not least, what makes Power Institute a one stop shop in my opinion? The beauty and body treatments that take place in the the back of the space. Ranging from Cavitation (an alternative and non-evasive liposuction style treatment) to facials of various degrees. I was lucky enough to unwind after an intense workout in the treatment room with Lissa and received a mini Endermolift facial. The machine itself helps to rejuvenate the skin, reduce and reverse signs of ageing and stimulate collagen in the skin. For those of you who have followed my blog, you know that I like to try all kinds of beauty treatments. Who doesn’t want to look young and stay beautiful? But The Endermolift is like no other.

“ENDERMOLIFT IS A 100% NATURAL TECHNIQUE USED TO FIRM YOUR SKIN AND REDEFINE THE CONTOURS OF YOUR FACE WHILE ERASING THE SIGNS OF AGING. THE ALL NATURAL FACE LIFT.”

Imagine a facial that feels both relaxing and helps to leave your skin looking younger after one treatment, and you’ve got my new favourite beauty treatment. With many other treatments available to the members of Power Institute, this truly is a one stop fitness shop for the body, mind & soul.

Head over to their Facebook & Twitter accounts to see what all the fuss is about with @DoTheDaniel. And next time you are in the mood to try one of the best workouts I’ve ever had, head down to Power Institute. Just be ready to be pushed to the limit all the right ways.
