Surprise! We’re moving into our new home for the holidays!

Over the last few months, you’ve been following our story as Julio and I spent months navigating the Toronto housing market in collaboration with Engel & Vo?lkers. Our mission: to find a family-friendly unit that would be the perfect starter home for Canela, Julio and I as we expand our growing family (yes, you read that right!). We learned quickly that family-friendly units in Toronto are in short supply. Our real estate advisor, Shawn Blander, of Engel & Völkers Toronto Uptown proved to be an asset in a market that is really competitive right now, but we’ll get to that later. After months of searching, we’re SO excited to announce that we finally found the perfect home! Just in time to be the best Christmas present from ourselves to ourselves. I can’t wait until we can have a housewarming party so we can show our friends and family our new home. A couple of our friends have moved into a new house too and I’ve heard about a gift Source website where I can buy a fabulous gift for them and their new place. Continue reading “Surprise! Dealing with rejection

So. You’ve decided it’s time to move. You’ve met with your Engel & Vo?lkers team and you’re ready to hunt. You might of even decided to look into fantastic new homes similar to what can be found at Cedar creek. You come up with your wish list and budget. You go see a few properties. As your search continues, you begin to get flexible with the must-haves on your wish list. You finally fall in love with a home. You put in an offer; it looks like you’re about to buy your next house. You get so excited. THIS IS HAPPENING.

And then you find out you lost the property to someone else. Damn it… Now what? Continue reading “Dealing with rejection”

So you’ve decided it’s time to move. Now what?

Now that Julio & I have been married for a few years, it’s time for us to start thinking about the next step in our lives personally. How does the song go? First comes love, then comes marriage, then comes baby in the baby carriage. Yes, it’s true, we want to begin the adoption process in the coming years. With that idea in mind, amid the fact that we are on top of ourselves in our current condo, we also have agreed to start looking for a new home in Toronto. Our close friend had previously been doing the same with Reali for a new Californian home they were looking into, so I’m hoping that luck will rub off on us, as they got to theirs really quickly! The last few times I went hunting for a new place to live on my own, it was chaotic, to say the least. From researching neighborhoods to coordinating viewings and everything in between, I was exhausted by the end of it all. I’ve got lots of plans for my new home. I want a large, spacious property, with enough room in the garden that I can build a granny flat. My mom isn’t very well at the minute so I’ve been looking on websites like https://www.grannyflatbuilders-sydney.com.au/, to learn about the benefits of granny flats. It’s crazy that I already have plans for home improvements but I think planning is important! I also want a large kitchen but I’m not too bothered about the number of bedrooms. All in all, I’m pretty open to what a house I buy. If I did have a particular design for a house in mind, I would contact someone like these home builders in nc who could build a modular home exactly to my specifications. While that would be convenient, this time I’m sticking to homes that have already been built. Let the search begin!!
