I’ve come to realize that a column like this is about evolution and learning from my previous posts to ensure the following ones are the best that they can be for you.  It’s a great way to look at life as well.  In learning from our choices in the past, we can make ourselves better people in the future.  So I can only hope that as I evolve alongside Daniel’s Dish, that the column itself can do the same.  That being said, let’s get on with this week’s new and improved Daniel’s Dish featuring the new hotspot on Queen West! Recently, I had the pleasure of joining El Catrin Destileria for an intimate preview of what this new restaurant in Toronto’s Historic Distillery District has to offer. As I’m sure you’ve noticed, I’m a huge fan of Latin food of all kinds. But, when I found out that Chef Olivier Le Calvez had come on board all the way from Mexico City to bring his authentic Mexican menu to this gorgeous new space, I knew I was in for a treat. Bringing French, Asian and Mexican influences to his menu, Chef Le Calvez helps create El Catrin’s innovative dishes to pair with the beauty of the restaurant alongside the beauty of his food. WVRST, 609 King Street West. (416) 703-7775

Julio and I had the chance to visit WVRST on King West for our latest Daniel’s Dish and I have to be honest, I couldn’t be more impressed with this concept. Niche restaurants at times get old, quick, but I don’t see that happening for this hot spot in the city core.
