New Releases from Arcade Fire, Radiohead and Foo Fighters

It has truly been an exciting week for music fans! A few of the best in the scene have just announced new releases that are not only timely, but also live up to their expectations. Haven’t heard them yet? Well, you’re in for a treat.

Arcade Fire – Everything Now

The legendary Indie band has released a new track and video titled, ‘Everything Now’. The track is abstract and plays around with new textures and styles, with a bit of a 70’s vibe to it, showcasing a piano tune that is repetitive throughout the track. Fans say that it sounds like a mixture of David Bowie and ABBA, with Arcade Fire obviously adding their own twist – and I couldn’t agree more.

The song and video contain themes of reflection, nostalgia, and truth. Along with this new track, the band has also announced a new album and a variety of tour dates which can all be found by clicking here.

Radiohead – I Promise

Everyone’s favourite dark and complex Alternative band has made a new release titled “I Promise” but, there’s a twist. The song isn’t entirely new – it’s actually an un-released track from critically acclaimed album (and my personal favourite) “OK Computer”. This is 1 of 3 unreleased tracks from this iconic record. Along with making this a more public track, they’ve created a new video to go along with it. The video mainly consists of a male (who actually starred in the video for “Paranoid Android”) sitting on the bus looking through the window, while seeing a variety of different people and scenes.

This is not the first of their re-releases, i.e “True Love Waits” on their most recent album that came out last year, “A Moon Shaped Pool”. The track is chilling with emotion, essentially about committing to a relationship, no matter the circumstances. This track was played several times while they toured with Alanis Morisette back in 1996, but has made an official return due to their re-issue of OK Computer titled “OKNOTOK” in celebration of the album’s 20th anniversary.

Foo Fighters – Run

Last but certainly not least, the Foo Fighters have released a new single and video titled “Run”. The song begins with a soft introduction with percussion building up, breaking into a hard hitting rock song. The video stars all the band members, but dressed as senior citizens giving the video a more of a comedic tone which wouldn’t be the first thing you expect from this song- but it works. This one will for sure be a hit.
