Travel & Lifestyle | Inspiration starts at home & CIL has launched a whole new way to be inspired!

As I’ve gotten older I have come to realize a lot of things about myself and my life. It’s not so much the “things” I have, but rather the memories and experiences I share with Julio and those I love that are important. Finding inspiration can be difficult and I think the best place to start is at home. While having someone like Thomas Buckborough & Associates (https://www.tbadesigns.com/concord-design-build/) come in and remodel one, or multiple, rooms in the house can be such an exciting process, it’s not always possible to be able to set aside the time to make it happen. Therefore, I find that making simple changes to the space I spend so much time both professionally and personally can have a huge effect on my motivation, and ultimately my outlook on life. It’s why when I was invited by the team at CIL Canada to meet renown celebrity designer Yanic Simard to talk about the newly launched colour centres at Home Depot locations across the country, I knew that it was an opportunity I simply couldn’t miss! On top of that, I had some Home Depot coupons to use (if you’re interested, you can learn more here). What could be better?

So what is #CILdreamitdoit all about?

To celebrate the new colour centres, celebrity designer Yanic Simard of Toronto Interior Design Group, transformed a 20-feet-by-20-feet eyecatching shipping container, which showcases creativity through colour, design and unique, achievable do-it-yourself (DIY) projects. I had the opportunity to see the space itself and was amazed by the huge impact that small changes to the paint colour in a spcace can have!

“The new CIL colour centre boasts colours organized by unique lifestyle themes, and offers 15 oversized paint chips featuring Timeless and coordinating Trending Colour collections. Along with guided inspiration tools, the new display makes choosing and coordinating colours for the home easier than ever for design doers and dabblers. There are more than 1,160 unique colours in the CIL colour centre, all arranged by colour family for easy browsing. The display, which includes interior, exterior and CIL WOODCARE® products, can also be navigated by product, project and lifestyle, depending on a consumer’s preference.”

For 85 years, CIL Canada has been helping Canadians to transform their homes. The new evolution of the colour centre is inspiring because not only does it showcase the three new themes that match our lives (Organic, Romantic & Urbanite), but every swatch offers tips and complimentary colour recommendations on the back. As someone that used to get intimated by the paint colour selection process in the past, I felt at ease and even started to think about other rooms I wanted to update for Julio and I.

At the end of the day, the DIY ideals of home decor don’t need to be complicated. Sure, sometimes we need a substantial change to make a room how we want it. If a room is dark and dingy, something like these flush ceiling lights from Pagazzi could do the trick. But actually, I’ve realised that sometimes small, modest changes can make a big difference in just updating things and making them feel fresh! Yanic was able to show me that small changes such as pattern painting tile motifs in the kitchen or complimentary colours in the closet can help to transform my home. As I sit here and write this I am also browning www.cil.ca/home for more inspiration and can’t wait to decide what changes I can make to my home!

If you aren’t in Toronto to experience the space for yourself, make sure to head to your local Home Depot to see the beautiful new colour centre for yourself.

“Developed in collaboration with CIL®’s Global colour marketing team and using proprietary colour trends research, colour usage data, media audits and social discovery, the new CIL® Colour Centre focuses on demonstrating the ‘Designed to Help’ platform, exclusive to The Home Depot. The CIL® Colour Centre is built around CIL®’s palette of beautiful, liveable colours which feature
1,164 unique colours shown on 488 3-colour stripe chips. The colours are arranged in “pods” by colour family, with 8 colour-specific inspirational cards and 10 new brochures. The display can be navigated by colour, by project and by lifestyle.”
