Jessica Gorlicky, also known in the art community as Jessgo, is one of the most unique people I’ve yet to encounter along my FASHIONIGHTS journey. Her latest exhibit titled, Saturday Morning, has personally captured my heart andĀ embodies all things from childhood from the 80’s and 90’s that you’d find on a Saturday morning as a child with a big bowl of sugary cereal in your lap. Daniel’s Dish | Ardor Bistro

The premise of the column is simple; work with restaurants of all kinds in this amazing city to explore what they have to offer and what makes them unique. In a city like Toronto, the choices are sometimes daunting and the food reviews and critics can be snotty and too complicated for their own good. So why not keep this easy?

Drinks. Appetizer. Main Course. Dessert. All along with a bit of information about what makes them our choice for Daniel’s Dish and why you should try them right away!

Ardor Bistro, 59 Ossington Avenue (647) 351-5100

The Ossington Village is one of my favourite spots because it offers some of the best restaurants in the city alongside a sense of comradery and community. One of the latest additions to the Ossington strip is the Peruvian-inspired Ardor Bistro. The sister restaurant to Celestin located in Davisville (which I hope to visit for a Daniel’s Dish soon!), Ardor Bistro fits in beautifully in this trendy neighbourhood. Nestled between a Pho Restaurant and the crazy construction of Toronto, the space is complemented by exposed red brick, hard wood floors and candle light during dinner service. Simplicity is key, and to be honest the space is still evolving as it grows into the newest trend-setter on the street. Continue reading “Daniel’s Dish | Ardor Bistro”

Daniel’s Dish | CAFE BAR PASTA

The premise of the column is simple; work with restaurants of all kinds in this amazing city to explore what they have to offer and what makes them unique. In a city like Toronto, the choices are sometimes daunting and the food reviews and critics can be snotty and too complicated for their own good. On top of this, I’ve worked in marketing so I know how hard it is to come up with coffee shop marketing ideas that will gain the attention of the public so sometimes amazing cafe’s aren’t able to get the customers they deserve. So why not bring attention to the smaller coffee shops and cafes to keep this easy?

Drinks. Appetizer. Main Course. Dessert. All along with a bit of information about what makes them our choice for Daniel’s Dish and why you should try them right away!

CAFE BAR PASTA, 1588 Dundas Street West (416) 534-4794

Nestled in the heart of Little Portugal, amid a neighbourhood that is rejuvenating and rebranding itself with each day, is one of the most memorable restaurants I’ve visited in a long time. CAFE BAR PASTA, not your typical restaurant by any means, is a marriage of beautiful food, decor and service. Recently, I was delighted to join and sample dishes from their much-anticipated Fall menu. The first time I met the charismatic owner Tom Bielecki, whom swept Julio and I as we passed by and into the newly opened space to sample a drink on the marble bar top. I knew then and there that something special had been born in this labour of love; 3 years in the making. Continue reading “Daniel’s Dish | CAFE BAR PASTA”
