You all know by now what a fan of Canadian wine I am and that if possible, I always recommend it to my guests and readers. This year, Wine Country Ontario has picked me as one of their Top Ontario Wine Lovers to participate in their 12 Days of Wine Country Ontario. What is that you ask? Well, I was given the task of picking a gift that would highlight some of Ontario’s best wines and wineries. A tough task to say the least with such a long list to choose from. But after much thought, here is my ideal gift for the Holidays to help showcase what Ontario wines are all about. Continue reading “Contest | 12 Days of Wine Country Ontario”
Food | Hendrick’s Gin is Home For The Holidays
As the hustle and bustle of the holiday season settles in the next few weeks, we forget to be carried away by the whimsy and joy of the season; we get so wrapped up in unwrapping those presents that we forget what this season is meant to be. Thankfully, Hendrick’s Gin has decided to remind us all what the holiday’s are supposed to be.
Starting on December 9th in major cities across the country, Hendrick’s Gin is decking the halls in Victorian Holiday spirit. For those Torontonians wondering what that means, keep your eyes open for streetcars wrapped in Victorian themed decor on a total of eleven lines around the city. The 501 Queen & 504 King routes will get extra attention with their double-length trams dressed up to “delight and inspire the downtown core.” Continue reading “Food | Hendrick’s Gin is Home For The Holidays”
Daniel’s Dish | BIVY Café
The premise of the column is simple; work with restaurants of all kinds in this amazing city to explore what they have to offer and what makes them unique. In a city like Toronto, the choices are sometimes daunting and the food reviews and critics can be snotty and too complicated for their own good. So why not keep this easy?
Drinks. Appetizer. Main Course. Dessert. All along with a bit of information about what makes them our choice for Daniel’s Dish and why you should try them right away!
Bivy, 1600 Dundas Street West (416) 534 8800
Yet again I find myself headed west for this edition of Daniel’s Dish (see my most recent post in Little Portugal). This time, I head into Brockton Village & The Brockton Triangle for what may be one of my favourite dining experiences in a long time with Julio.
What I didn’t see coming nestled in this cute nook of the city is one of the best French-inspired restaurants I’ve yet to visit. BIVY Café is the epitome of quaint, nestled into a space with enough tables to count on two hands. White walls, wood furnishings and unique art hanging on the walls. The feeling of being at home wraps its arms around you and holds on tight from start to finish. Continue reading “Daniel’s Dish | BIVY Café”

Ah the pub. We have all been to, enjoyed or hated one of these at some point or another in; in every case, what comes to mind? Dingy decor and greasy food for the most part. Chef Brad Livergant of The Fifth Grill & Terrace (hopefully coming to a Daniel’s Dish soon!), known for its fine dining experience will bring that upscale flair to the standard pub concept. I recently joined the Chef to discuss and try out the newest addition to The Fifth Family, and I can say I’m once again a pub fan! Continue reading “Daniel’s Dish | The Fifth Pub House”
