A fun fact about The Year of The Monkey that I learnt while doing research is that lucky colours associated with the year in Chinese Astrology include gold & white – the same colours that adorn the logo of Shangri-La Hotel, Toronto. I guess you could say it’s destiny that we should all be celebrating the Chinese New Year at one of our favourite hotels in Canada. The busiest time of year is about to settle upon the city of Toronto. The Toronto International Film Festival (also commonly referred to as TIFF) is coming, and this year marks its 40th anniversary. To celebrate, it seems like everyone is buzzing with excitement and Shangri-La Hotel, Toronto is no exception. I have no doubt that if you were using social media in Canada in the last few days you would have seen the #OasisAtShangrila hashtag via various social media platforms. On July 8th, Shangri-La Hotel Toronto played host to its first ever Fashion show with runway and all. But what made the space so perfect for VITAMIN A, a line of swimwear designed by the talented Amahlia Stevens? The runway itself was built atop the fifth floor pool and created quite literally an Oasis of fashion & beauty in the heart of downtown Toronto.
