St. Patrick’s Day is one of those holidays that always reminds me that Spring is right around the corner. From trying to disconnect for a few minutes to reconnect with friends and family, to enjoying a few drinks at my favourite pub, I wanted to take a minute to share how the#DoTheDaniel team decided to celebrate this #StPatricksDay. Because if you’re going to enjoy this year and think green (see what I did there?), we also want to ensure that you’re enjoying responsibly!
By now you’ve probably had a chance to check out the videos we made in partnership with LCBO & Always Taking Care (the brand under which they support their Corporate Social responsibility efforts) – because it’s important to remember that while we all head out to celebrate all things Irish this weekend, that we do so as responsible adults. It was of course also an opportunity for Catherine to roast me a few times!
I think the most important thing to take away from this partnership is that it is 2018 – it is NOT acceptable to drink & drive anymore.
There is no excuse. No exceptions.
It’s sad that we still have to have this conversation, but the number of impaired driving offences on e St. Patrick’s Day is way too high.LCBO staff are always on the lookout for signs of intoxication, don’t serve those who appear to have already overindulged, and will call the police if they think someone is about to drive under the influence – but they are extra vigilant on holidays like St. Patrick’s Day. . Let’s all agree that it’s a fun holiday for us to enjoy, but we can do better.
We also want to applaud the LCBO for helping to keep alcohol out of the hands of minors.. They check everyone who looks under 25 which is extra challenging on holidays that many young people celebrate so happily whip out that ID if asked when you head to your local LCBO (we’re finger’s crossed hoping we get asked!) .
