Listen. I’m the biggest fan of the holidays and holiday shopping – that’s no secret. But this time of year, I think it’s also really important to share messages of hope and inspire those of you out there to give back to causes that deserve our attention and help. It’s why I am such an advocate of #GivingTuesday as you have seen.
As a reminder, over the course of the last few years, I have used this time of year to help shine light on causes that are important to me. One of them being The Schizophrenia Society of Ontario is Ontario’s largest not-for-profit charitable health organization supporting individuals, families, caregivers and communities impacted by schizophrenia and psychosis province-wide for 39 years. They’re also one of the very few organizations that provide schizophrenia- and psychosis-specific supports, filling a critical service gap when individuals and families often have nowhere else to turn.
Schizophrenia and psychosis (often an early warning sign) affect over 500,000 Canadians, yet are often misunderstood. With all the progress that’s been made in working to dispel stigmas around mental illness, the time is right to include conversations around schizophrenia and psychosis. Together we can champion this cause and help bring a world without schizophrenia!
The Schizophrenia Society of Ontario (SSO) deserves our help this #GivingTuesday and all year long and I hope that I have helped to inspire you to give them your attention, donation and time. Together we can make a difference.
This is where I ask you to not only donate and support the work of SSO, but also to join in on the much needed social media conversation by following @peace_of_minds on Twitter, @SchizophreniaSocietyON on Instagram and by ‘Liking’ their Facebook Page. Follow and use #ShineOnSSO as you help us raise support, awareness and much needed funds for the amazing work they do all year long.
For more behind the scenes of this and other amazing brands we are working with around the world, make sure to follow along with the #DoTheDaniel Instagram account. We would love to have you join on our adventures!
