Osheaga Music Festival is fast approaching and I could not be more excited! Taking place in Montreal at Parc Jean-Drapeau and with one of the hottest lineups in Canada this year, I can assure you that the festival will be nothing less than an amazing time. So, who’s gonna be there? Here’s the official line-up:

The festival is taking place from August 4th-6th and there are still tickets available! You can purchase tickets for General Admission, a Gold Pass or the Plantine Perrier Pass. Thinking of staying on the grounds? Well, there are also accommodation and travel packages available for purchase.
In terms of Parc-Jean Drapeau, it’s a large outdoor space with a variety of art installations – specifically designed for Osheaga! There are a ton of activities and places to hang if you’re looking to take a break from the music – like the Wi-Fi- Chill Zone, amusement rides, games and places to just chill out and unwind!
As for food, there’s just about everything you could ever want. If you’re looking to pig out for the weekend, there will be tons of greasy goodness. If you’re looking to keep it on the healthier side and/or have gluten free/vegan or vegetarian dietary restrictions, there are lots of options for you as well. As for me, I’m thinking of doing a bit of both (it’s called balance, right?) and I couldn’t be more pumped to try everything that they will have to offer!
Yes I have just mentioned all of these lovely things to do, see and eat, but you must be wondering where the heck to find it all. Well, check out the map below!
What to bring
- Large blanket/towel/tapestry, if you desire to sit and chillax during some sets
- Re-usable water bottle (water stations available on site)
- Sunscreen (NOT AEROSOL) and hat (unless you want to turn into a lobster, then that’s cool)
- Poncho and/or umbrella (unless you want to be a wet dog, then that’s cool too)
- Backpack/Bag (not too large)
- Sweater and pants in case it gets chilly (or onesie if you’re into that)
- Running Shoes
- Good Vibes
What NOT to bring
- Outside Beverages (sorry, no flasks)
- Drugs (hugs instead)
- Folding Chairs (cute blankets will just have to do)
- Professional Cameras
- Weapons (don’t be a jerk)
- Selfie Sticks
- First Nations Headdresses (or anything that offends someone else’s culture)
- Beach Umbrellas
- Skateboards/Longboards
- No doggos, puppers, or any animals really
- Flags
Artists to Watch Out For
We all know that the headliners are some of the biggest in the industry who put on some of the most extravagant shows however, here are some others that may not be on your list to see:
This group of young jazz musicians are incredibly impressive. I’ve seen them a few times over the past couple of years and do they ever put on a show. It’s amazing to see that jazz is still alive – additionally, within a younger community. I think what makes them so unique is that they incorporate jazz into other styles. For instance, their most recent album IV is psychedelic jazz. And the one prior, Sour Soul is a combination of jazz and hip-hop. So not only are they impressive as they can incorporate jazz into current and popular genres, but they can interest younger crowds within this iconic genre.
Remember those dudes who sang “Kids”? Well, they certainly have much more than that to offer these days. MGMT is a unique psychedelic band who you don’t see on the road too often- especially in Canada. This is an act you simply must not miss! They’ve had three amazing albums and it will be a treat for many to finally see these dudes live, likely with a wicked and trippy setlist.
These twin brothers, along with their band, are up and coming Indie rockers. However, with their extravagant outfits and beyond entertaining show, it’s hard for your jaw not to drop while watching their live show. They are essentially a modern day version of Queen. All I can say is – GO SEE THEM.
Brown is not your typical hip-hopper – he switches between different personas and utilizes his voice in different ways to do it. He’s an amazing lyricist with so many stories to tell – along with a wild stage presence that will keep your eyes glued.
If you’ve never heard of these guys, just listen to the album “Attack on Memory” and then come bang your head at their show. Enough said.
