Are You Score Obsessed?

When I was at Carleton University, I couldn’t wait to log on to the website after an exam to get my score. Same thing when I have taken an IQ test (is 182 good?). When my husband and I play Mario Kart, I’m always trying to get the best score (especially if I’m beating Julio, which I usually do). When I take a spelling test that someone has shared on Facebook, I wait anxiously to learn my excellent score. It’s natural to be competitive and to measure your abilities and success based on how you “score,” but are we focused on the score that really matters? Growing up, I didn’t know (or care) what my credit score was. I thought it was a random figure assigned to me by credit card companies based on whether I paid my bill on time. I would later learn the hard way that this number would have the most affect on my life. Continue reading “Are You Score Obsessed?”

Maintaining a Healthy Credit Score

As a young adult, I can honestly say that watching television reflected heavily on the idea of credit cards. There was a new glamorous lifestyle a young professional could have once they got their first credit card. There are, of course, glamorous aspects of having a credit card, like having that extra sense of security in case of emergency or being able to treat yourself once in a while to that extra special gift. When you get your first credit card, it’s likely you’ll be applying for credit cards with no credit history. You might not be accepted for all of the credit cards you apply for because of your lack of credit. Apply for cards designed for a first time user looking to build credit and start a healthy credit history. But there are some things we young adults need to be made aware of in order to keep a healthy credit and not spiral into a fluster of debt. If you are in this situation right now, you are not alone! There are many people out there who struggle financially, but with the knowledge of sites like debtconsolidation.loans that exist, hopefully soon, you’ll be able to find a solution to managing your finances effectively and get your financial life back on track. On the other hand, having a bad credit score is not the end of the world, especially when you know that companies such as repair.credit exist, who can help you out when it comes to maintaining and repairing your credit score. We all make mistakes at the end of the day, so there is nothing to be ashamed of when it comes to your financial situation. That is definitely also the case for people who aspire for multiple credit cards. Many people don’t really understand How to use multiple credit cards, but if there is one absolute formality, it’s that you need to be financially stable and with good credit in order to have more than one credit card. 5 Ways to Stay Healthy on a Budget

As a Nutritionist, I get asked a lot of questions about how to stay on track with your health without blowing up your wallet into a million tiny pieces. Yeah, I get it – the health industry can be expensive sometimes. But what you invest your time, energy and money into, is indicative of what really matters the most to you. And frankly, I feel like investing in myself first is always the best option. With that said, do you need to break the bank every time you wanna do yoga while eating kale on a mountain (wait, do people actually do that)? Heck no! You don’t have to spend hundreds of dollars on new kitchen equipment. I was recently asked how much someone should spend on a new blender and I told them that the quality of the product is more important than the price tag. I also told them they should read some reviews (like this oster blender review) to educate themselves on the best product for their needs rather than just buying the most expensive product. Being healthy doesn’t have to cost an arm and a leg!!

How To Adult

As you may have noticed, 2017 has been a busy year for me both personally and professionally. The most important thing that I have learned is that it takes time to achieve the things I want in life. One of those big factors, be it finding a new home or planning to adopt a baby, is my credit score. I’ve always worried about it being too low, I even looked up loan rates with a credit score of 640 to 670 just in case I would need it. After all, more and more things you may want to do in life may be put off or be made impossible due to your credit score, which is not ideal and can be extremely frustrating. For example, if you’re looking to rent a house or apartment, it is likely that the landlord will run a tenant credit check, perhaps using services similar to what’s available at https://www.american-apartment-owners-association.org/tenant-screening/. The good news is that it’s not impossible to get something if you have a low credit score. But obviously it’s a lot better to have a high score.

For a long time, I was like many of you: I didn’t want to talk about money or budgets. But as I’ve grown-up, I am becoming more comfortable with the idea that good things take time. This is why I am excited to announce our partnership with Capital One Canada to share their new Credit Keeper™ ® tool, which allows me to track and watch my credit score improve. Knowledge is power, and Capital One customers are now more empowered than ever to take control of their financial goals.
