The Year I Make My Life Easier

In an effort to continue the positivity that has led up to the new year, I wanted to take a moment to sit down and share why this is going to be the year that I make my life easier. Whether it’s realizing that New Year’s Resolutions just aren’t for me anymore (click here to see what I mean) or making the choice to love me first and foremost, I like to believe that 2019 is going to be our best year yet here at DoTheDaniel.com – one that celebrates our fifth birthday and adds to the team and voice around the world.

New Year, Same Me

Happy 2019! I am sitting at home doing laundry and preparing to go back to the office tomorrow. Amid a list of things I need to accomplish and feeling rejuvenated from finally closing the chapter that was 2018, I wanted to take a minute to write a thank you letter to the year that changed my life.

I know that a lot of you feel similarly in that it was a year of difficult moments and hard decisions, but I am here to perhaps put a spin on that. I don’t believe in New Year’s Resolutions anymore – I am proud to say that it is a New Year and I am the same me I was going into it.

Not Just Your Basic… Salad

There are moments when hunger hits and finding a healthy food option in a time crunch is really needed. With limited lunch hours, tiny breaks in between classes and a short window for dinners – I’m keen on finding ease with my meals.  A healthy dish can sometimes seem boring and uninviting to the eye which, in the past, unfortunately made me afraid of eating good food outside of my own kitchen. That’s why I’m so excited about having Mad Radish as my go-to spot in Ottawa for nutritious and creative meals!

A Christmas Cocktail All The Way From Cologne

Christmas is one of my fav times of year.  I love being able to spend time with my closest family and friends, even if it is through facetime for my family so far away.  One thing that I had not experienced until I moved to the Northern hemisphere were Christmas Markets.  It’s simply too warm in NZ for these to have the atmosphere that they need.  These markets are all throughout Europe and have their own personality and verve. They are all slightly different and each year, when I visit a different one it puts me right in the Christmas mood. They begin in late November and go until Christmas Eve, they are outdoors, so crisp and cold, with a real winter feel to them.
