That holiday countdown is on and I am absolutely still shopping for the people in my life. When I was younger I was so proud to finish shopping and wrapping before December even started but as I have gotten older, I’ve realized that life gets busy. For those of you out there still shopping I thought I’d share some upgrades that you could use in your life this year. Because as Mama Ru says, “If you can’t love yourself, how in the hell you gonna love somebody else?”

Food Banks Canada x SkipTheDishes is the Giving Tuesday Collab The World Needs Right Now

I don’t often talk about my childhood because it’s challenging. My parents had me when they were 20 years old and the thought of having a 19 year old right now if I was in their shoes is pretty daunting. We struggled financially, and for the most part my parents shielded us from knowing. I lived a very happy childhood and all things considered I think back on those years fondly.

That being said, my mom has shared me over the years that times were really tough and sometimes we had to rely on the food bank to keep my brother and I fed.

A Little Help From Google

For those of you who follow me on social media, you’ll have seen that I’m practically in Toronto on a weekly basis lately. Especially leading into the holiday season, there are so many amazing brand, people and events that have hired or asked me to be in person after years of virtual get togethers, so who am I to say no!

I’ve witnessed a lot of beautiful moments over my career with brands giving back to the communities that support them. Since the pandemic, I’ve been a huge proponent for support local and helping to amplify small businesses. That’s why I have yet again been so moved and inspired by Google Canada this year and their recent #ALittleHelpFromGoogle event in The Distillery District before the iconic Distillery Winter Village Christmas market kicked off.

A Glowup So Impressive, You Have to See it To Believe it

As many of you know, I travel to Toronto often for work and to see close friends that I have made over the last 9+ years that I have been blogging. When I can, I need to rest my head in a beautiful hotel that is conveniently located in the city. Well, if I had to pick there’s not one hotel more convenient or known in the downtown core like Sheraton Centre Toronto. Recently the hotel celebrated its 50th anniversary and the completed of a multi-million, multi-year renovation that you absolutely have to see in person to take in all that beautiful grandiosity.
