Daniel’s Dish | CAFE BAR PASTA

The premise of the column is simple; work with restaurants of all kinds in this amazing city to explore what they have to offer and what makes them unique. In a city like Toronto, the choices are sometimes daunting and the food reviews and critics can be snotty and too complicated for their own good. On top of this, I’ve worked in marketing so I know how hard it is to come up with coffee shop marketing ideas that will gain the attention of the public so sometimes amazing cafe’s aren’t able to get the customers they deserve. So why not bring attention to the smaller coffee shops and cafes to keep this easy?

CAFE BAR PASTA, 1588 Dundas Street West (416) 534-4794

Nestled in the heart of Little Portugal, amid a neighbourhood that is rejuvenating and rebranding itself with each day, is one of the most memorable restaurants I’ve visited in a long time. CAFE BAR PASTA, not your typical restaurant by any means, is a marriage of beautiful food, decor and service. The first time I met the charismatic owner Tom Bielecki, whom swept Julio and I as we passed by and into the newly opened space to sample a drink on the marble bar top. I knew then and there that something special had been born in this labour of love; 3 years in the making. Continue reading “Daniel’s Dish | CAFE BAR PASTA”

Cibo Wine Bar, 522 King Street West (416) 504-3939
Liberty Entertainment Group strikes again with Cibo Wine Bar, a modern twist on a classic Italian Restaurant.  Now I’ll be perfectly honest and tell you that Italian food is not normally my favourite style of dinning or my “go-to” in the restaurant world.  However, I was informed by my friends at The Siren Group that “having been officially certified with the globally recognized Marchio Ospitalita Italiana, awarded by the Italian government to restaurants outside of Italy who meet the highest standards of Italian authenticity across a number of categories including menu options, food quality, restaurant design and traditional Italian characteristics.”  Now this, I had to see for myself.

I’ve come to realize that a column like this is about evolution and learning from my previous posts to ensure the following ones are the best that they can be for you.  It’s a great way to look at life as well.  In learning from our choices in the past, we can make ourselves better people in the future.  So I can only hope that as I evolve alongside Daniel’s Dish, that the column itself can do the same.  That being said, let’s get on with this week’s new and improved Daniel’s Dish featuring the new hotspot on Queen West! So here’s the thing about this one ladies and gentlemen, Touro is located in Richmond Hill. But do you really think I would take the time to write about a restaurant north of the city if it wasn’t completely worth the trip? C’mon now. You should know better than that!
