Well, I guess now is as good a time as ever to address the green elephant in the room. On October 17th, Cannabis will be legalized in Canada and it’s time we spoke about what that means. A not too dissimilar situation is occurring in Ohio. Although, it is only legal for an Ohio dispensary to provide marijuana for medicinal use. I like to think that over the years, with the help of our incredible Contributors and staff members, we’ve been able to dispel a lot of myths or preconceptions on some pretty controversial topics. Being that Cannabis is THE hot topic right now, I felt it important to address it as both a budding industry, coming to us coast-to-coast, but also as a conversation topic that we don’t need to be scared to talk about anymore. Some people have realized the health benefits of using cannabis substances such as CBD, and THC as well as trying their best to educate members of the public through places online as well as guides such as a guide to concentrates which looks at the different types of strains available and their effects and benefits. The age of vilified cannabis use is hopefully coming to an end, and thanks to the team at Emerald Health Therapeutics, I was recently able to educate myself properly on the subject matter. Now that I’ve had time to digest the information, I wanted to take the time to share this topic with all of you for the first time. October 17th is coming, whether you like it or not, so why wouldn’t we help to educate each other as best as we can? Continue reading “Coming Out Of The Cannabis Closet”
So Now What?
It’s almost the end of September. My birthday is a few weeks away, and as we ramp up to another busy fall season around the world for #DoTheDaniel, I’m also in the midst of a very difficult personal transition. You’ll remember that earlier this year, I decided to announce that I was stepping down from the blog. In my mind and heart, it felt like the right thing to do at the time. I wanted it to be the most grand gesture I could offer my current situation in hopes that it would change it. Or at least remind those involved that nothing is more important to me. (For the record, I still believe this very much.) Unfortunately, it did not, and yesterday I announced that I have changed my mind. I am human and I am allowed to do this after all. I will not be leaving the blog and I will not give up on my dreams in hopes of forcing someone to feel something that they no longer feel. In the midst of it all, I also seemed to have lost my inspiration to write over the last few weeks. So to say I have felt overwhelmed and emotional would be an understatement. Some days, it’s takes everything in me to not break down and cry in very public settings. Because although I believe that life provides you with the lessons you need when you need them, I’ve come to a point where I don’t know how much more I can take emotionally. My Favourite Spot Asides The TIFF Theatres
TIFF is one of the most amazing, incredible, busy and blurry times of the year for me. We always seem to have at least five things on the go at once, and for the most part, the festival seems to end in the blink of an eye. It’s why I have to be honest, I usually have a few select spots that are my favourite to actually stop and enjoy during it all. Not that the entirety of the experience and festival isn’t amazing – but I’m more so meaning the places where I feel most relaxed during the demanding schedule we share with you all. Every single year since launching DoTheDaniel.com, I have been lucky to attend Rock-It Promotions, Inc‘s TIFF lounge. From my humble beginnings writing for another publication, to now running a successful global blog with Catherine, they have been there with me for the journey. Having evolved over the years in both name & size, this year is set to be the best yet! Continue reading “My Favourite Spot Asides The TIFF Theatres”
A #TIFF18 Experience You Might Not Expect
It’s finally here! The Toronto International Film Festival is one of the busiest times of year for us at #DoTheDaniel, and this year I am taking lead on the majority of our coverage while Catherine heads out of town for an exciting #DTDtravels adventure. While I usually would sit here and tell you all about the star-studded premieres we are most excited about, this year I wanted to take a bit of a different perspective. I wanted to share the hidden gems of #TIFF18 and hope that the films we have chosen to attend and enjoy inspire you to curate your own experience to see the best of what TIFF has to offer during the festival!
