Oh, The Places You’ll Go!

Dr. Seuss’ Oh, The Places You’ll Go! is one of those books that means so much to me. I remember my mom giving it to me when I graduated from Carleton University. It was a touching gesture and still reminds me of that moment when I stood facing the possibilities that were ahead of me. I could never have known what the future held for me, but that book was a pretty good start. Flash forward ten years later, and here I am sharing my life with you all from a blog that I have turned into a career. Looking back on 2017, I have certainly seen many places and experienced many things with you all around the world. A travel wishlist from someone who has never been to Ottawa

Michael Palin once said ‘Once the travel bug bits there is no known antidote, and I know that I shall be happily infected until the end of my life’. Never a truer word has been spoken. I arrived late to this travelling lark – I was well into my late 20’s before I really started travelling and I am now well and truly addicted, getting serious withdrawals if I am in London for more than four weeks uninterrupted.

I am often asked how I found out about some of the places I have been and the experiences that I had, and the answer is from the 101 travel websites and emails that I subscribe to, as well as social media – some of the best kept secrets are in others photos. That is where I get most of my travel envy from which leads to some serious inspiration. Which is why working for Daniel has led me to some serious travel envy in Canada. I have visited Canada briefly – to see Niagara Falls from the Canadian side and that is really it. Which is quite frankly shameful. Don’t Fear Change

Remember those days when mobile phones were not part of our lives? We used to buy cameras to capture special moments and wait for days to see them. I can’t even think of how many times my palms sweat when calling my crush in turn, fearing for her dad to pick up the phone! I’m proud to say I come from a generation that actually knew how to read maps (printed maps) when traveling, and food, food was meant to be eaten, not “grammed.” Continue reading “Don’t Fear Change”
