When I think about YSL Beauty, I always think back to the early days of dating Julio. When he would stay over at the house I was living in at the time, and in the morning he would shower and start his beauty routine. I’ll never forget how excited he was to tell me about touche éclat when I told him that I didn’t know what it was. Since that day, Julio and his love of YSL beauty has continuously kept me informed on beauty trends using some of the best YSL products. So much so, that his enthusiasm has become contagious, and I find myself picking up the latest items for Catherine & I regularly. When I found out that on Wednesday, November 1st, YSL Beauty will open the doors of its very first pop-up shop in Toronto, I knew I had to share with you all! Date Night Dos & Don’ts
Making time for the ones you love seems like a simple enough statement, but how many of us actually do it properly? Over the years of being together, I have come to understand the importance of date night with Julio. We’re always having cute nights in, cooking our favourite dishes – and we like to go out to a restaurant Roanoke at least once a month to let our hair down. I think we’ve got a nice routine sorted! So much so, that I wanted to share my personal Dos and Don’ts of date night. Because let’s be honest, it’s hard to disconnect in order to reconnect on a deeper level sometimes. The importance of sharing our stories
How do I start a blog post about something so difficult? I’ve written and re-written this about five times this morning. Getting up and walking away from my computer, pacing the room, trying my best to understand that I am about to share something incredibly difficult. Last night, I finally sat down to watch Lady Gaga’s five foot two on Netflix, and it got me thinking. Now that may sounds silly to you, but I am the kind of person who is inspired by real emotion and vulnerability in others. I like to know that I’m not alone in feeling the things I do, or having to cope with difficult things in my life. After jotting down quotes from the film in a note on my phone (something I have done for years in hopes of inspiring myself when I feel lost), I tried to lay down and get a good night’s sleep. As I lay in bed, scrolling through my social media feeds, I came across the #MeToo hashtag. Maybe it’s an overwhelming sense of reevaluation that always comes over me before my birthday, or maybe I’m just feeling emotional, but it made me realize the importance in sharing our stories with one another. Something that is not easy in a world of smiles and images of perfection. But is so important to help shed light on an important message. So here is my story. Because #MeToo. Everything is about to change
Have you ever had one of those moments where you realize you are on the brink of something big? Lately, I have been having that feeling in a lot of difeferent capacities. But especially when it comes to our partnership with Huawei Mobile Canada. I’m also a bit of believer that things happen at exactly the right moment, when we are most ready for them. For as long as I can remember the number 16 has been my favourite number. Two years ago, on August 16th we adopted Canela. On September 16th my niece Rebecca was born. On October 16th it was my last day at my full time job and the beginning of running Do The Daniel full time.
So what is so important all of this you ask? Well, October 16th 2017 marks another exciting day for myself and Huawei around the world. The #HuaweiMate10 is being revealed in Munich, Germany and the world of mobile devices as we know it is about to change. Continue reading “Everything is about to change”
