It might finally be summer in the UK, but I was lucky enough to escape for a few weeks of sunshine in my homeland, just as the snow was falling in Londontown. It had been just over two years since I had been back to New Zealand, and I was itching to see my family and friends, as well as explore a few new places along the way. For those of you who didn’t know, I grew up in New Zealand, moved into 2 or 3 different private house rentals in West Auckland going from various jobs, then took the big step to move to the UK. I like to come home every year so I was very excited to get back to see everyone.

Travel & Lifestyle | Cheese, Art, a Castle and Some Boats: A Weekend in Switzerland
There is a myth in local government, that work slows down over the summer. Everyone gets out of London and there is very little to do. How I wish that this myth was true. However, it is not and after twenty days straight of working, I was looking forward to a mini break. I chose to get out of London and visit Switzerland, a country that I have never been too before.

I have always wanted to travel. From a very young age, when my Aunt was abroad, living and working in London, I knew that I wanted to do it too. There is something magical about London and I just couldn’t wait to grow up and put routes down there. I thought that it sounded glamourous and exciting, to be able to see more than just New Zealand. My cousins and I used to love receiving parcels from her for our birthdays and Christmas. We would see the distinctive writing on the parcel and know that it was from her.
