I like to think that life happens to us in exactly the way we need it to in order to be our best selves. Now, that sometimes is going to mean a rough road, but when you get to the end of it you are so much wiser for having walked it. Amid a crazy 2019 and lots of changes in my life personally and professionally, I have come to trust my instincts a little more. When I feel the necessity to take a day off to recharge, I do it. When I need to speak my truth, I no longer worry if it’s the right decision or not. And when I love brand and it feels right to support them, I do so proudly.
You’ll have for sure noticed over the course of the year that I’ve been sharing more about the brands I love and giving them not only my support financially by buying their items, but the spotlight I can shine on them with this blog and it’s power. Whether it’s Outland Denim and the world they are doing around the world to make it better environmentally and socially, to Under Armour for their work to create more inclusive spaces during Pride and all year long, I think now more than ever is an important time to share messages of positivism and change.
One of the things that Julio taught me many years ago is that we vote and change the world with our dollars. So when I spend money on clothes it’s important that it’s a brand that makes sense for me and what I stand for.
Over the course of our #DoTheDaniel adventures, we’ve worked with Uniqlo Canada to help speak to the fact that not only are they approachable, but they also know how to help me express what I love most. Whether it’s a Marvel t-shirt that I got at the recent #uniqloUT event, or the fact that their dress pants help me look and feel my best during meetings, it feels right to shop at and share what they are up to in Canada because they understand Canadians.
I’ll be honest, I actually wasn’t aware of KAWS before I launched the blog five years ago. The advent of social media and cool collabs like this one with Uniqlo Canada have really helped take this iconic name to a whole new audience. I IMMEDIATELY wanted all of the items now available in store and online because not only are they limited for the summer but they’re playfully perfect.
The highly-anticipated 21-item line features graphic tees and totes highlighting the artwork and sculptures of revered Brooklyn-based street-artist KAWS. The collection just made a huge splash in China and will now be available for Canadian shoppers. And when I say that cool items like this go fast, I mean it. I waited too long a few times on similar releases and am now left regretting my decision. It’s why I am SO excited to get my hands on several of the tees for Julio & I to rock all summer long at concerts, picnics, nights out with friends, or lazy Sundays playing Nintendo at home.
I encourage you to check out the collection for yourself and see why this collection and so many more fit your life just like it does mine. Join in on the excitement of social media around the launch by following @UniqloCanada on Twitter and Insta – use and follow the #UTxKAWS hashtag and show off how you’re rocking your favourites.
For more behind the scenes of this and other amazing brands we are working with around the world, make sure to follow along with the #DoTheDaniel Instagram account. We would love to have you join on our adventures.
