Holiday Cocktails That Will Get You on Santa’s Good List

Now that Canadian Thanksgiving has come and gone, I know that for a lot of people (myself included), it’s time to start thinking about the holiday season. From friendsmas get togethers to family meals, secret Santa to gift ideas, I know that I am getting more and more excited with each new day. In hopes of helping to get you in the holiday spirit with me if you aren’t already, I thought I would share a few cocktail recipes I’ll be making for my friends and family this year that is SURE to get me on Santa’s Nice List if I’m not already.

Over the years I have shared how much of a tequila lover I am, but I have also had the pleasure of discovering a love for Scotch as I got older. While that is a journey that deserves its own post (and putting it into the universe, trip to distilleries in Scotland) I thought I would share some recipes inspired by two spectacular brands that have a special place in my heart.

THE BALVENIE DOUBLEWOOD 12: CHERRY TARTAN

Recipe:

35ml The Balvenie DoubleWood 12
25ml Amontillado Sherry
15ml Amaretto

Pour ingredients into a mixing glass with ice and stir until well chilled. Strain into a Nick & Nora glass and garnish with a skewer of Maraschino cherries.

GLENFIDDICH BOURBON BARREL 14 YEAR OLD: THE GLENN ROY

Inspired by the classic Rob Roy cocktail, the Glenfiddich Glenn Roy features a spirit forward profile with a touch of sweetness, sporting an ideal companion for a refined yet comforting night of entertaining.

Recipe:

2 oz Glenfiddich 14 Year Old Bourbon Barrel Reserve
¾ oz Italian Sweet Vermouth
¼ oz Premium Orange Liqueur (or Dry Curacao preferred)
3 dashes of Chocolate Bitters
1 Luxardo Cherry for Garnish

In a mixing glass, add in all your ingredients and fill with ice. Stir until well chilled. Strain over 1 large ice cube in a rocks glass and garnish with Luxardo cherry.

FIRE & CANE – NEAT

This unique expression from Glenfiddich’s Experimental Series marries smoky peat with rich toffee and zesty fresh fruit, all brought together in Latin Rum casks. This peated whisky and its campfire smokiness pair exceptionally with backyard barbecue dinners or for cozying up around a campfire with friends for a toasty autumn evening.

THE BALVENIE PORTWOOD 21 – NEAT

The Balvenie PortWood 21 is creamy and silky with fruit, honey, and spice notes, this single malt indulgently invites you to fully appreciate its nuanced flavors and warming profile, making it an exceptional choice for those who appreciate the finer things in life to enjoy over intimate gatherings or a moment of quiet reflection in beautiful backdrops of fall.

There are so many more holiday inspired cocktails that I know I can use the above mentioned products in, and the sky is the limit for those of you out there looking to swap in a beautiful scotch for other options in your favourite cocktail recipes. Have fun with it and make sure to tag me in your holiday get togethers when you use these delicious recipes!
