I definitely don’t want to jinx it, but I think it’s FINALLY safe to say that spring has sprung here in Toronto. With the upcoming royal wedding just around the corner, I got to spend an afternoon with the team at the Ritz-Carlton here in Toronto and be amongst the first EVER to experience their May 2018 Royal Wedding exclusive Afternoon Tea menu for Spring.
One thing a lot of people don’t actually know about me is that before I ever worked in the world of fashion and style, I worked in a tea shop and really got to love and understand the tradition and history that goes into every cup of tea. Whether it be from China, India, Japan or anywhere else known to grow and cultivate tea for the masses of the world, I’m sure you could only imagine how excited I was to have a Royal Wedding Afternoon Tea at the Ritz-Carlton Toronto. If you haven’t had the pleasure of experiencing an afternoon tea for yourself, this is definitely the place to do it.
Inspired by the love of some of the Royal Family’s favourite traditional afternoon tea bites and pastries, the team at the Ritz-Carlton Toronto have developed a unique one-of-kind menu that fuses some of the most traditional aspects of a British afternoon tea with a little Canadian flare, using locally sourced and inspired flavours to create an afternoon tea that any member of the Royal Family would surely drool over.
Now I’m not one to pick favourites, especially when it comes to a selection of such beautiful creations of food, but I’m a sucker for a traditional scone with some clotted cream. And boy did the team at the Ritz-Carlton Toronto deliver! Finished with a dusting of powdered sugar and accompanied with a house-made fresh clotted cream, it’s safe to say that I was salivating before I even got to take my first bite.
Now the fun doesn’t end there, other selections from this incredible menu also include a pistachio and apricot layered mouse, a modern take on the traditional salmon tea sandwich and a cucumber sandwich bite topped with citrus pearls that burst with every bite you take. The Ritz-Carlton Toronto has always been known to deliver when it comes to their exceptional customer service and meeting the needs of even the unexpressed wishes of their guests, but this afternoon tea menu really took it above and beyond.
Every single bite was prepared with love and care from their amazing team of executive chefs and pastry chefs to truly capture the essence of the Royal Family in a modern way, while still staying true to the tradition of an afternoon tea service. So if you have the opportunity to stop by any weekend throughout the month of May, you absolutely have to try the special Royal Wedding Afternoon Tea at the Ritz-Carlton Toronto, I promise you will be leaving full and definitely far from disappointed.
