Keep Calm and Eat All The Maple Things

I don’t like to generalize, but Canadians truly do love maple syrup. We have maple butter, maple tea, maple baked beans, maple bacon, and that’s not even scratching the surface (maple room freshener anyone?) In our defence, it is not only better for you than sugar, as Catherine can confirm, but requires an incredibly labour intensive process to make. Did you know that it takes 40 gallons of maple sap to make just 1 gallon of maple syrup? I like to think that Canadians just appreciate the finer things.

There’s a company that can attest to the true awesomeness of maple syrup. Beretta Farms, have just introduced their new Maple Breakfast Sausage. Using 100% Canadian-raised pork, the Maple Breakfast Sausage contains 7 grams of protein, and is free of antibiotics, nitrites and gluten. My sister gets really bad headaches from nitrites, and I find that sausages filled with flours make me really sluggish. So knowing that I am putting quality Canadian products in my body first thing in the morning sets me up for a more productive day.

If Beretta Farms is new to you, know that they are a Canadian company and have been in business for over 20 years. They pride themselves on providing consumers with healthy options and create products such as beef jerky, ribeye steaks and peameal bacon. Also, their website is super cute and opens with a video of galloping cows (!!!)

All of Beretta Farms animals are raised on hand-selected family farms to ensure the compassion and care of the animals; and at a time where conscious consumption is becoming more and more vital, Beretta Farms ensures that their products have come from reliable and ethical sources.

And to celebrate the launch of their latest product, Beretta Farms founder, Cynthia Beretta, (female owner, yeah!) has developed three new recipes featuring the new Maple Breakfast Sausage. I don’t know about you, but the maple sausage and sweet potato hash sounds pretty incredible right now. So, happy eating friends! And here’s to maple syrup, ethical food and farming.
