It’s no secret that I lead an active lifestyle with a sprinkling of junk food and fries. With my routine of hitting up the gym three days of the week, a daily yoga practice, teaching 18 hours a week, running after a 5-year-old, and dancing around my house like Tom Cruise, I want to make sure I can continue with a modified version of my routine when I travel for a yoga conference.
A Home Away From Home In Downtown Toronto
Earlier this year, I promised myself that I would take more adventures. I realized that even though I’ve wandered far, I haven’t done much exploring right here in Ontario, so I decided to focus my efforts on adventuring closer to home. In January, I booked workshops at the Toronto Yoga Conference. You know what booking events out-of-town means? Booking accommodations out-of-town! But, it’s been literally ten years since I stayed in a hotel, which also happened to be the last time I was in Toronto, and I recall not having the best time… So Toronto had big shoes to fill to make me love it. Well, I’ll be damned if this city didn’t win me over a little more, every hour I was there.

The Small Things Make the Biggest Difference
My family goes in three different directions every day. Lincoln has school, and Kyle and I both have our careers. We literally phase through our schedules, some weeks without a second thought, and then wonder how it became December so quickly. I won’t lie: Kyle and I are often the fly-by-the seats-of-our-pants-and-hope-to-pie-we-don’t-mess-it-up kind of parents. Our routine and structure comes from what we have going on in our work lives, so we try to make sure that our days together as a family contain few restrictions.

Top 10 Netflix Shows for Kids and Parents
In my house, we’ve begun a ritual to make sure that the time we spend together, especially on Sundays, is more about cuddles than errands. We are a family that is constantly on the go, and continuously active. It’s really easy to lose sight of family time when you work different classes throughout the day, and sometimes the week’s activities bleed into the weekend.
