Help us #ChampionHer all year long

There is so much happening in the world today, and I believe that we sometimes forget to share and celebrate the good all around us. From supporting charities around the world, to enjoying the simple things in life like Canadian Cheese with friends, I try my best to focus on the positive. My Dad used to always say that you get what you give. So I want to help inspire you as you read this blog post with something that touched my heart and I feel is worth sharing.

You’ll remember that we have worked closely with The Dairy Farmers of Canada to share the #Canada150 message around what it meant to be patriotic throughout 2017. I’ll admit I may be Canada’s biggest cheese lover, so it only made sense! But what I forgot to mention is what happens after I pick up some of my favourite Canadian Cheeses. The Dairy Farmers of Canada offer so much incredible support and give back to so many Canadian communities. From the farmers, to Canadian athletes, they help to make a real difference from coast-to-coast.

Earlier this year, Fuelling Women Champions announced the winners of the Champions Fund, an initiative which aims to break down financial barriers for amateur female athletes as they work at achieving their goals in sport, made a huge difference in the lives of 30 female amateur athletes. “Expanded for its second year, the Fund is distributing 30 grants of $5,000 totaling $150,000 to help even more young female athletes pursue their sports dreams. This is in comparison to the $100,000 grant from 2016, distributed to 20 female athletes with incredible stories.”

From track and field star Larissa Brown in Ottawa, ON, to the Abreast in a Boat Dragon boating team in Vancouver, BC, are all breast cancer survivors paddling to raise awareness for breast cancer and to demonstrate that survivors can still lead full, active lives. 30 Grants were awarded to make a difference in the lives of deserving Canadian women making the world a more beautiful and inspiring place. As I mentioned before, I think the world needs more positive stories like this one. I look forward to working with The Dairy Farmers of Canada and to continue to help supporting amazing initiatives like the #ChampionsFund while we all #ChampionHer into the holiday season.
