It Only Takes a Smile

Working towards a goal is something that I have always prided myself in. Be it personally, or professionally, I always try my best to be my very best. When I think about the things in my life I am grateful for, there are of course the obvious things and people. But then there are the things that I sometimes take for granted. I am grateful for beautiful jewelry I wear every day to remind me of special people. I am grateful for these amazing Bonlook glasses that I still get compliments on every day. And of course my smile. My friend who visits Dentist Houston told me that I should get braces, and I finally decided to do it. People are always complimenting my on my teeth – and that one is all thanks to my parents and those teenage years where I had braces. But I can say with certainty that I wish I had had Dr. Jeremy Kurtz in my life instead!

Having recently been introduced to Dr. Kurtz and his team at Dental Arts at Front, I was astounded at how far the world of Orthodontics has come. During our visit, the friendly staff at the Front St. location allowed us to feel as ease with something that would have once been a daunting conversation. For those of you who are unaware, Invisalign is a process that achieves the same goals for your teeth as braces once did. But in a fraction of the time, and with far less hassle!

I still remember my mom telling teenage me when I got braces how important it was to have good teeth. My parents were both working class and saved every penny they could to get me and my brother braces as a teenager. Looking back now, as that angsty teenager, I probably didn’t appreciate it as much as I should have. Funny how life works that way sometimes. But today, and most days, I get complimented on my teeth and it’s a huge part of feeling good about myself.

That being said, when I found out how Dr. Kurtz could achieve the same results (if not better in my opinion) in a fraction of the time, I wished he had been around with this technology when I was younger! To have been able to skip all those years, braces, wires, elastics, retainers… Well. You can’t change the past, but you can certainly learn from it and be better. Which is where Invisalign comes in! In todays advancement of dentistry, you can get Invisalign for teens and kids, starting them off early to help them get straighter and healthier teeth.

And let’s not forget that Catherine also had braces. And it’s only fair to share her photos as well.

As amazing as this post could be going down memory lane, it’s important to remember that this isn’t the past. The future is here, and it is incredibly more accessible and effective.

Upon booking an appointment at Dental Arts at Front (one of two convenient locations in Toronto), we proceeded to meet with Dr. Kurtz for an initial assessment. This is to determine if you are a candidate for Invisalign – which is important. It’s not a perfect solution for everyone, and it is important to know what your options are. Which were of course explained to us in a way that was easy to understand without being intimidating. Not everyone will qualify, but you’d be amazed at what a consult can help you to understand about your teeth.

After an X-ray, you are scanned to produce a 3D scan of your teeth. I was completely enamored by this process and how fast it was. Not only did we feel completely comfortable with the staff but they helped to relieve that anxiety that some people might feel when they think about dentistry and orthodontics. How far we’ve come in that field!

Once your unique needs have been taken into account, your first tray is ordered to begin down the road to that beautiful smile. Over the course of the invisalign process, trays are made to move your teeth into their new position that are slightly different than the last. Think of it as one step at a time in the direction you want to head. There are no messy wires (if you’ve had braces, you know how painful those can be) or elastics. The whole thing felt so personal and comprehensive. It really is seamless thanks to Dr. Kurtz and his staff – and the best part is that with Invisalign, you don’t even notice that someone is wearing it. I have to give credit of course to Hillory Renkema for helping us find the right doctor. Make sure to follow her for her experiences through the process as well:
