Don’t Take Anything For Granted

It’s November 1st and a new month has just begun. With so much newness happiness for us at the blog this year, I love the beginning of a new month because it always give me a boost of energy to be better. Today also marks the beginning of Movember which, as many of you will know, aims to raise awareness and funds to help stop men dying from preventable causes with medical screening and providing them with the resources they need for their mental health. My friends, it’s time I told you about my prostate cancer scare and how this year I want to get back to giving back in partnership with L’Oreal Men Expert via their Barberclub range.

I should start off by saying the reason I don’t often speak about this part of my life is because for a long time, I felt as though when I did people treated me differently. Similar to how Catherine & I try to be more open about mental health to dispell the stigma, a lot of times the C word scares people or allows them to create a version of you in their head that might not be accurate. The unfortunate truth is that many of us have or will watch Cancer affect someone in our lives. If you’re wanting to try and improve or maintain the health of your prostate, you could look into products like this https://www.vigrx.com/products/vigrx-prostate-support/ and see if it could help you.

In 2011 I faced the possibility of prostate cancer in a very real way and to this day it is something that still seems surreal. You know, a lot of thoughts and questions tend to race through your mind when you’re faced with the possibility of prostate cancer. Can I survive it? Will it affect my ability to learn something new when it comes to the sexual antics that we get up to in the bedroom? What is the best course of treatment? Your mind just goes into overdrive at the thought of all the stuff that you could be missing out on. Fortunately, I am one of the lucky ones, but many men will be diagnosed with testicular or prostate cancer and Movember allows for a social campaign to help bring awareness to preventative measures and research. I also really appreciate the addition of mental health into the charity this year because suicide is increasing at an alarming rate for men in Canada and we need to help men with this aspect of their lives as well. This year I will be joining L’Oreal Men Expert to help raise awareness, raise money, and give back to something that touched my life and the lives of men from coast-to-coast.

So what can we do to help? Well, signing up is the first step.

“The state of men’s health is in crisis. Men experience worse longer-term health than women and die on average six years earlier. Prostate cancer rates will double in the next 15 years. Testicular cancer rates have already doubled in the last 50. Three quarters of suicides are men. Poor mental health leads to half a million men taking their own life every year. That’s one every minute.

OUR FATHERS, PARTNERS, BROTHERS AND FRIENDS ARE FACING THIS HEALTH CRISIS AND IT’S NOT BEING TALKED ABOUT.

WE CAN’T AFFORD TO STAY SILENT.

So yes, this is a heavy topic. In my earlier years I actually would get upset with men who grew moustaches but didn’t raise money for Movember because it’s one of the easiest things to do. With age, and a little bit of wisdom, I’ve realized that if you’re not comfortable signing up that’s okay too. But donate to someone who is please. Ladies, that goes for you too!

Now I should preface this month by saying by November 30th I will look VERY French Canadian, but all for an amazing cause. And thankfully I’ll be equipped with some L’Oreal Men Expert items to keep that moustache of mine looking it’s best and my skin (which is quite sensitive when I shave) including the BARBERCLUB FACE & BEARD OIL, BARBERCLUB FACE & BEARD MOISTURIZER & BARBERCLUB BEARD & HAIR STYLING CREAM. I’ve been using L’Oreal Men Expert products for as long as I can remember – they used to have a tinted moisturizer that helped me stay glowing in the winter months. I should try to find that again while I’m shopping for my face and Movember moments now that I think about it.

Finally, I’m going to put my money where my mouth is in hopes of inspiring you to do the same.

For every dollar I raise on my Movember campaign, Do The Daniel Inc. will match the donation, up to $5000. Click here to help me raise awareness and money for this incredible cause.
