It’s fair to say that I love Podcasts. I have been listening to them for at least 10 years, a little before I moved to the UK. In those days, you had to find them on the web, and then download them physically to your iPod via a cord. Ahhhh the dark ages. These days, you can download a number of them in seconds direct to your smart phone, or even stream them, if you are not underground on the tube. Podcasts have gotten me through a number of long walks, they have kept me company on flights with no in-flight entertainment, have made me laugh out loud or cry in public. So, here are a few of my top picks, if you are new to podcasts, or if you want a few suggestions of something new to listen to.
Because Everyone Deserves A Chance
Growing up with a working mom made every Monday morning memorable. After a weekend of jeans and laundry and sneakers and vacuuming, my Mom would start her daily workweek ritual of choosing her business clothes, putting on makeup in front of her mirror, doing her hair (I remember exactly what blowing out her bangs entailed) and picking her heels and matching purse. I would sit at the door of her room, waiting to see if she chose the blue suit with a white blouse, or the paisley skirt with pantyhose and a cardigan, or the black pumps with the red cotton dress. My favourite top of course was the embezzled blouse with large rhinestones across the neckline. I was mesmerized. My mom had the most beautiful strawberry blonde hair, which she would brush and wear loose, or blow out in the timely fashion of the early nineties. I would wait for the moment she passed by, her perfume wafting over me, remembering that she would smell as nice as she looked.

My family goes in three different directions every day. Lincoln has school, and Kyle and I both have our careers. We literally phase through our schedules, some weeks without a second thought, and then wonder how it became December so quickly. I won’t lie: Kyle and I are often the fly-by-the seats-of-our-pants-and-hope-to-pie-we-don’t-mess-it-up kind of parents. Our routine and structure comes from what we have going on in our work lives, so we try to make sure that our days together as a family contain few restrictions.

Online Shopping Just Got So Much Better
I cannot even begin to tell you how many times I have gone into a store looking for a particular style of item that I’m convinced that they would carry only to find out that the store and all possible alternative stores you had in mind, while trying to find that particular style or piece, don’t actually carry that kind of product. I’ve reached this point many times in my active shopping life and at this point in my hunt I’m just about ready to throw in the towel. That was until the one time I decided to take the search to Amazon after remembering that they have something called Amazon Fashion!
