How One Night in Toronto Changed Everything

Now, let me set the scene for you. It’s the early 2000’s and I’m the lead singer of a rock band, all the while trying to make money working at a local record store. Almost every night, you can find me scoping out the latest show in town – from metal to emo, hardcore to indie, and everything in between. I spent years travelling to different cities with friends so that we could follow our favourite bands around. Each song bringing me closer to new inspiration, each performance to new feelings and even some venues to new friends.

My Happiest Holiday Memories Might Surprise You

There are fews things that I love more than memories. I’m a hopeless romantic and a sentimentalist. I associate items, songs and places with people. It’s something I have always done and love about myself. I can look at a napkin I kept from a restaurant that I keep in a memory box and remember how it felt to enjoy a meal with someone and the moment I realized I loved them. It seems silly, but that’s just how I see the world – full of beautiful moments that I carry with me. The holidays are a special time for me and while we get excited for the season ahead, and attend some pretty spectacular events around the world, I wanted to take a moment to share why some of my happiest holiday memories might in fact surprise you. Lately I am coming to appreciate the simple things in life. Cuddling on the couch with my husband on a Sunday afternoon, in a pair of sweats, ordering a pizza and watching anime would be my version of heaven. While the world of social media can be deceptively driven by FOMO and Facetune, I am so proud of the fact that Catherine and I work tirelessly to encourage our staff to be real. Real isn’t always pretty, but it feels like we are reaching more and more people these days who turn to us because we aren’t the “standard” of picture perfect. When we are being authentic and transparent, it affords those who follow you the opportunity to do the same, and then we all feel a little less alone.  Continue reading “Something To Think About”

Let’s Take a Minute to Talk About…. Snow?

As I sit on the rooftop patio at the office answering emails and looking forward to a busy summer night in Toronto, I’m laughing at the fact that I’m about to write a blog post about the winter. As Canadians, the snow is something that defines who we are. The strength it takes to endure the blistering cold from coast-to-coast, and the fact that we are known internationally for our love of all things winter. Some of us deal with the cold better than others (this is where I’m going to poke fun at Catherine – she hates the winter) so when we were recently introduced to the French Canadian brand Quartz Co., I fell in love with their brand. Inspired by the fact that most of us will need to prepare for winter before we know it, and the fact I AM IN LOVE with the red jacket you’ll see below, I wanted to tell you why we will be wearing this brand when the temperature drops in 2018.  Continue reading “Let’s Take a Minute to Talk About….
