Where To Find Me This Black Friday

It’s that time of year again – the holiday bargain hunting has begun and as I prepare myself for the excitement of shopping for the ones I love, I am also being mindful of the fact that I am on a budget. In the past, I was never a believer in Black Friday. It didn’t appeal to me and for the most part the only time I realized it was happening was when I would watch the news after getting home from work. You could say that I’ve grown wiser in my old age (I’m thirty five going on sixty it feels some days!) and now know that this incredible day is an opportunity to shop for the ones I love and myself while saving an amazing amount of money. It will also be how I kick start my holiday cheer and plan to put up my Christmas tree this weekend after shopping till I drop. So where will you find me this year you ask? The only place to be for holiday shopping of course with 350 stores ready to put me in the spirit! Continue reading “Where To Find Me This Black Friday”

An Important Day To Remember

I remember years ago sitting down to do one of those DNA kits. After spitting into a tube and rubbing the inside of my cheek with a cotton swap I sat down to fill out the questionnaire. One of the questions struck me as strange because it asked me if I wanted to know if I was genetically predisposed to Alzheimer’s and other mental conditions. Being that I already knew that Schizophrenia and Alzheimer’s ran on my mother’s side, I gave it some thought and decided to say yes.

Weeks later when the results came in, I found out the results and though it was difficult to read, I did in fact possess the gene that could lead to both. Now it should be noted that this does not mean I will suffer from either, but it gave me a lot to think about. So when I found out that #GivingTuesday 2018 allows me the opportunity to support The Schizophrenia Society of Ontario, I know it was something I should share with you all.  Continue reading “An Important Day To Remember”

Your Endocannabinoid System May Be Out Of Balance

Wait, my what?

Something I very likely know nothing about is out of balance? Okay, time to panic, right?! Well, first off, take a deep breath ‘cause you’re gonna be just fine. But second, I’ve got you. ‘Cause I’m here to offer my knowledge and expertise as a certified health professional who has spent many years studying and working on the human body (get those dirty thoughts out of your head, please) and its many complex and diverse systems.

Also, I absolutely love nerding-out on science so that I can make it much easier to absorb for those of you who aren’t things like biochemists or medical doctors. And let’s be honest, you shouldn’t have to be one in order to understand what the heck is happening in your body and with your health. The Gift Your Dog Deserves This Holiday

Years ago when we adopted Canela from Dog Tales Rescue and Sanctuary, I could never have known how much a pet could change my life. When I was growing up, we always had cats and she is my first dog ever. She has quickly become of the best things that has ever happened to me. From consoling me when I lost to my dad, to the memories our little family shared over the years, #CanelaReyes still manages to put a smile on my face every time I think about her during a busy day of all things #DoTheDaniel. So this holiday season I wanted to find the perfect gifts to stuff her stocking (yes, a stocking is hung for her so that Santa brings her presents) and so that I can treat her the way she deserves.  Continue reading “The Gift Your Dog Deserves This Holiday”
