Tips to treat the one you love

Over the past few weeks, I have been reminded of the importance of disconnecting in order to reconnect with those I love. Sounds like a simple idea, but it’s actually a lot more difficult than you might imagine. As someone who “lives online” it can be difficult for me to not feel guilty if I don’t look at my phone every five minutes. This Valentine’s Day, you deserve to reward yourself.

I like to believe that life is about experiences rather than belongings. I am far more inclined to want to plan a trip or romantic meal with Julio. This Valentine’s Day, I have decided that Julio & I need a break and some well deserved quality time together. Over the last year, as I have been travelling for work, I have been avidly collecting Marriott Rewards and saving them for something special. I love how my hotel stays in Canada accumulate points that I can use around the world! SO this Valentine’s Day I am surprising Julio with a trip full of romance and beautiful experiences. A walk down memory lane

I find myself getting nostalgic a lot lately. Taking a walk down memory lane, I find myself remembering certain parts of my childhood fondly and thinking about how I might be able to create similar memories and experiences for our future children. As Julio & I are slowly starting to look into the process of starting a family, it only makes sense that I turn to my own experiences for inspiration. Life is busy. So now what?

Last year, I caught myself saying things like “I’ll get to it when things aren’t so crazy” or “There isn’t enough time in the day!” The funny thing is that the more connected we are with one another online and around the world, I think that sometimes we become less connected with ourselves. I had to face some pretty challenging moments that have offered me a perspective on life that I now use as a pseudo-mantra of sorts.
