When I think about YSL Beauty, I always think back to the early days of dating Julio. When he would stay over at the house I was living in at the time, and in the morning he would shower and start his beauty routine. I’ll never forget how excited he was to tell me about touche éclat when I told him that I didn’t know what it was. Since that day, Julio and his love of YSL beauty has continuously kept me informed on beauty trends using some of the best YSL products. So much so, that his enthusiasm has become contagious, and I find myself picking up the latest items for Catherine & I regularly. When I found out that on Wednesday, November 1st, YSL Beauty will open the doors of its very first pop-up shop in Toronto, I knew I had to share with you all! What makes you proud?
2017 marked a lot of firsts for us at DoTheDaniel – our first year as an incorporated business, our first ever Pride Parade where we were asked to be on a float, our first time sharing content in three languages, just to name a few! There is so much to be proud of, and that got me thinking. What is it about my life that makes me proud? I think it’s the ability to work with brands and experiences around the world that showcase diversity, power and persistance to change the world. You’ll remember that we had the pleasure of visiting W Montréal last year (click here to see more), and since then I have watched as they help to showcase truly Canadian ideals such as this. It’s why I wanted to share with you a new speaking series that they have launched! Continue reading “What makes you proud?”
Look who’s moving in
Living in Toronto for the past few years has allowed me the opportunity to watch the city I call home grow and evolve. I was originally looking at moving to some Castle Oaks homes but I decided on Toronto. I’m really happy with my decision. Keeping up with the neighborhoods that have long-standing history is always a lot of fun because they too continue to evolve.
As Julio and I begin the journey of hunting for a new home as our family continues to grow, there are always a few items on our checklist. Now, don’t get me wrong, there are some beautiful houses in the area that we have come across, but we are yet to find the perfect home for us. Although, I think our expectations may be a bit too high. With the list we have, it might be better if we just construct a home ourselves because it’s probably impossible to find everything we could want. Like, I’ve always wanted a home that has great insulation, and it must come from the roof. I thought these were hard to come by, but my friend told me that if I check out this website, this company will be able to do it for me using spray foam solutions. Woah! Now, we’re talking. Maybe, this piece of information can help our house-hunt, however, it is only one thing off our list.
The next point is having certain things that need to be nearby. A grocery store within a reasonable distance, close to the TTC to commute around the city, and if possible those stores that offer the convenience and comfort we have grown accustomed to. When we found out that one neighbourhood we are looking into for a potential new home was welcoming a new Rexall Drugstore into a historic address, it was another pro on my personal list. We are lucky enough to be partnering with Rexall to celebrate the beautiful new store and wanted to share the details with you first! Continue reading “Look who’s moving in”
The adventure continues
By now it should come as no surprise that I am loving the energy surrounding 2017 and all things #Canada150. We have some exciting partnerships that we will be announcing soon to help celebrate with Canadians from coast-to-coast. When I stop to think about Canadiana and the celebrations, there is of course several brands that come to mind. Recently I had the pleasure of attending a special announcement from Hudson’s Bay where they announced the launch of the commemorative Hudson’s Bay Grand Portage items that will help to connect Trans Canada Trail’s Great Trail in celebration of Canada’s 150th Birthday through its Grand Portage fundraising program. “The Great Trail, which is the longest recreational trail in the world, will finally connect Canadians from coast-to-coast-to-coast, leaving a great Canadian legacy to be enjoyed for generations to come.” Continue reading “The adventure continues”
