Here’s what to look forward to at Fashion Art Toronto’s 1664 Fashion Week

With the warmer weather and the beginning and month of May comes the energy and excitement of another season of shows with Fashion Art Toronto. Founded in 2005, #FashionArtToronto – or more commonly referred to at FAT – is one of the longest running fashion weeks in the country, and many would say, one of the most important. With my early experiences attending shows and events when I first started blogging, I remember the importance FAT in the fashion community was in its stark contrast to a more commercial and “polished” fashion week. The focus on emerging talent, creativity, individualism, innovation, anti-establishmentarianism, and modernity have always been at the heart of the organization, and this year’s shows and events are set to be some of the largest and most visible to date.

Have You Ever Just NEEDED an Item of Clothing?

Over the years I have been very lucky to work with brands making a difference in the world, and ones that hold a special place in my heart. I’ve told the story about my first job being at McDonald’s more times than I can count. Funny because having just started a new role in Ottawa I still think back fondly on the values it taught me and the skills I use all these years later. With #McHappyDay around the corner on May 11th, this year McDonald’s took the cool factor to a whole new level and I’m essentially salivating at the thought of NEEDING these limited edition collaboration pieces in my life before they sell out.

It’s Time To Start Thinking About Warm Coats Again

While most of us are finally getting settled into the idea of sweater weather, any good Canadian knows that the colder weather is going to get much colder in no time at all. While I sit at the new dinning room table in our home in Ottawa, I am mulling over the photos from a recent event I wasn’t able to join Julio for in Toronto. I don’t often go so far as to bring fashion previews to you all here on the blog, but I was so in love with what I saw that I realized this may be the time to start thinking about to really make a statement with your wardrobe this season.
