With the warm weather finally here, it’s time for me to start thinking about how I plan to make the most of the sunshine and summer months. For ten years I’ve sat down to write blog posts about my summer plans and to connect with all of you out there – both long time readers and first time visitors – and this year is no different. While those of you who follow along with me on social media have seen, I am ramping up for my biggest summer yet and I thought I would share my 5 ways I plan to make the most of it all.
#1. I plan to get outside as much as I can.
A funny thing to say as I’m sitting in my office to write this blog post, but after I hit publish I’m grabbing the leash and taking Canela for a nice long walk without my phone so we can soak up some rays together. From bike rides along the Rideau Canal in Ottawa, to walks along Toronto streets while in town, road trips and beach days, it’s all about enjoying the beauty of being in nature as much as human possible for me this year for my physical, emotional and mental health.
#2. I plan on attending as many music festivals as I possibly can this summer
I only realized how much I missed them so much over the last few years when I started attending them again when it was safe to do so. From highly coveted concerts to festivals in Montreal, Ottawa and Toronto, you will absolutely be able to find me singing at the top of my lungs all summer long with Julio. Music soothes me in a way that is hard to articulate, and there’s nothing quite like being surrounded by all of that energy and enthusiasm to share in something so beautiful!
#3. I am going to try and eat as many meals as possible outside.
You all know how much I love the support local energy that was born out of the pandemic, and while we find ourselves on a bit of a tighter budget with the world as it is, when we can eat out at a local spot we love the patio is going to be my default setting. Canadians will understand when I say that there’s only a few short months to do this, so we have to take advantage as much as we can!
#4. I want to explore new destinations and try new adventures where and when I can.
I have loved exploring Canada more over the last few years and I think that I’ll continue that exploration and follow my adventurous spirit to new and beautiful destinations from coast-to-coast. I’d love to explore the east coast and the north more this year for sure. Why not take advantage of seeing and doing things I’ve never done before, especially in the gorgeous summer months!
#5. I’m embracing #The120Life with some delicious wine and slowing down to appreciate all the things I’ve worked so hard for.
What does that mean you ask? I notoriously used to always focus on what was next and not what I was doing in the moment. Nowadays, I remind myself that life is meant to be savoured like a delicious glass of 120 Santa Rita wine. With cottage plans (with little-to-no cell service) it’s going to be important for me to take time to rest and recharge. While this summer will be busy, I am going to slow way down to cherish every moment I have worked so hard to achieve.
With both the Santa Rita 120 Reserva Especial Sauvignon Blanc & Santa Rita 120 Reserva Especial Cabernet Sauvignon as fabulous options to kick off Pride Month in June and enjoy responsibly all summer long, I plan to take as much time as I need to recharge with friends and family in the sun
This summer, I think that this list will help keep me motivated to get outside, try new things, relax and remember to enjoy the special moments together over delicious meals, with delicious wine, and memories I will cherish forever.
Here’s hoping that this blog post gets you inspired to do the same. You can find both bottles of 120 Santa Rita at your local LCBO and liquor store.
