It should come as no surprise to you by now that I am a lover of all things love. In all forms, it makes my heart happy. So when I came across the Love is Love is Love campaign and project, I knew it was important to share it with you. Not only because it falls in line with the ideals that I feel define Canada so well, but also because the importance of sharing positivity is more important than ever for me. There is nothing in the world more powerful than love, and we all could use a little more of it in our lives.
Yes I’m a hopeless romantic. It’s one of my favourite qualities actually. Call me foolish, but it’s what gets me out of bed some days. So I am more than happy to be sharing some exciting news about upcoming #LoveIsLoveIsLove events and activations taking place in Canada in hopes that it makes you happy as well.
“#LOVEISLOVEISLOVE was launched in 2016 in response to the Orlando Pulse shooting. Shortly after the shooting, many LGBTQ+ people posted photos of themselves on social media, accompanied with statements on the importance of being unafraid to be yourself, especially in the face of tragedy. This was the inspiration for the project. If these photos were cathartic for the community, then it would be worthwhile to make professional photography services available to the public, to facilitate this catharsis.”
This Friday, June 1st at Toronto City Hall, the official Love is Love is Love banners will be unveiled. If you’re in the city at 3pm I encourage you to come by for the reveal and to celebrate this beautiful installation to shares the most beautiful of photos of Torontonians expressing their love for one another in all forms.
Over the summer, activations will take place to help continue this important message. From the Scarborough Arts producing a Scarborough Sign that mimics downtown’s “Toronto” sign clad in #LoveisLoveisLove images for the summer (launching in mid-June at the University of Toronto Scarborough Campus) to the Pride Toronto Activation on June 23 & 24th where members of the public are invited to drop by with a partner or friend and be photographed interpreting the theme “love is love”.
So what can you do this year to help support this campaign and love in general? Be kind. Be understanding. Be supportive. Get out there to the events (check out the Love is Love is Love website for more details) and use the #LoveIsLoveIsLove hashtag. I assure you that one small act of love can change the world. And we all can help to make it a better place.
