It’s mid August and for a lot of parents and students, it’s time to start talking about back to school shopping. While I am very baby centric right now – with hopes of my future children becoming more and more real with every bit of money I can scrounge into savings – it always makes me smile. I vividly remember every year going with my mom to shop for the things that I needed to get the school year started. When I started my post secondary education in Ottawa (let’s not talk about when that was because it makes me feel old) it was about equipping myself with the tools I needed to be the best student I could be. Best Buy Canada had recently opened a new location in the city core, and it was so exciting to me to know that the items they had on the shelves got me excited. So inspired by this nostalgia, I decided to share some of my favourite Back to School items from Best Buy Canada that I hope might inspire you in the same way. And yes, many of them are on my personal wish list, even if I’m not going back to school this fall!
Now if you’re a student, maybe school isn’t as exciting to you as it is to me. But trust me, at some point later on in life, you’ll look back fondly on these years and remember all the things that it taught you about yourself and your dreams. Hold on to that feeling, because life gets busy!
For the university students out there (this one is for you parents), it’s important to have a laptop to work efficiently and take notes in class. Laptops have become much more affordable over the years (insert “Back in my day” joke here) and the one that I keep coming back to is Microsoft Surface Book.
Having seen the evolution of this beautiful item over the years since it launched in Canada, I desperately want one for my “adult” life, but can assure you that it is a perfect addition to a busy student schedule. Small enough to fit into your napsack or messenger back, but powerful enough to rival a conventional desktop, it’s my #1 choice for this year when it comes to Back to School items.
Now that we’ve got the most important tool off our shopping list, it’s time to think about life in between classes and lectures. I am a HUGE music person, so having the right headphones to block out the world and stay focused is very very important. My poor Jabra wireless headphones are currently on their last leg, so the selection available for the 2018 students of the world is something I am actively checking out.
But let’s not forget that being physically active is just as important as working out that brain. As someone who has tried a lot of different fitness focused wearables and done an enormous amount of research into cheap activity trackers, I of course always seem to come back to Fitbit because I find them the easiest to use.
The range of their latest is ready and waiting to ensure that you keep yourself moving while you motivate yourself for everything the school year has in store for you.
For the younger students in your life, we can’t forget that the world is becoming more and more connected. And while I am in no position to say what my stance will be on my future children and electronics, Best Buy Canada has an amazing range of educational products to keep those brains working and growing all the time. Basically, if you’re getting an early start on your back to school shopping either for yourself, or for those in your life, I encourage you to head to your local Best Buy Canada store or check out their website for some fantastic deals.
Make sure to check out the Best Buy Canada website, and head to your local store for all these and many more back to school items for yourself and those in your life – and even if you aren’t going back to school like me, go get inspired!
