Food & Wine | A little #MommyKnowHow goes a long way

I’m sitting here giggling to myself as I write this blog post, because I am NOT a mommy. Recently DoTheDaniel.com was invited to an informative breakfast by The Egg Farmers of Canada here in Toronto. As my resident mommy expert, Amanda was unfortunately not able to join so I decided to attend in her place. Sitting around a table at Colette Grand Café as the only man, I quickly learnt that a little #MommyKnowHow goes a long way. We enjoyed a delicious meal and an engaging conversation about the myths surrounding feeding eggs to our babies. Come and see the facts about eggs, babies and what it means in an age of ever increasing allergies for our little ones.  Continue reading “Food & Wine | A little #MommyKnowHow goes a long way”

Family Lifestyle | Kandoo – Boogie Mist

Now that the school year is in full swing, we’ve definitely had our first round of colds. It wasn’t too bad, but it’s getting colder (ugh, geez Canada!), and with the cold comes even more illnesses. According to WebMD, “Kids who are preschool age have around nine colds a year, while kindergartners can have 12 a year.” TWELVE a year? Yikes! So, what can we as parents do to help?

Travel & Lifestyle | The best way to welcome baby with Etsy Canada

For those of you who follow along on social media (@DoTheDaniel btw), you’ll have noticed that I recently became an uncle. My baby brother & his beautiful wife gave birth to their first born and the whole family couldn’t be happier to welcome baby Rebecca! I of course immediately started planning for baby gifts that would be both practical for first time parents but also beautiful for my niece. There are so many choices out there, from toys, booties, even a baby casting voucher which would have let them make a mold of the baby’s feet to keep forever. Although this would have been really cute, from what I’ve heard, the baby is quite fussy and probably would enjoy having to stay still for the mold. I decided to keep looking. I wanted to find items that would be useful but lovely for the new baby to have, so I checked out a list of the best baby products online to see what I could get and where I could get them from, I was in need of a lot of help in that department because you never know just what they like, but reviews from actual parents who have tried and tested them have helped so much.

When faced with buying baby essentials, be they for your own little ones or the additions via family and friends, I asked myself… did I have to settle on going to the big box baby stores? The answer is no. Thanks to Etsy Canada, I was able to create a parcel of baby must haves that are not only unique, but also support local businesses. Family Lifestyle | Airbnb #BelongAnywhere

The last little bit I’ve been fortunate enough to travel around a BUNCH! Whether it was a weekend away in Montreal, a week away in Toronto or an amazing road trip across eastern Canada, it feels like I’ve been on the go for a while. But I am so happy when travelling, I feel as though it is my calling! My friends all feel the same, that’s why we get on so well. Collectively, I reckon we have been all over the world. In fact, my friend recently did an all round trip in the UK, it took her months. But when she came home she couldn’t stop talking about the Southwest coast of England. She said the views were something out of a dream. So she actually ended up looking at some of Lovat’s holiday homes for sale in Cornwall and similar so she could have her own retreat to go to whenever she wanted to. We were all so happy for her, me, perhaps a little jealous. But I’ve never loved anywhere so much that I want to call it home, or, a second home in her case. But that’s just me! In fact, when I’m travelling, I’m always conscious of looking for a place to stay where Lyric can have a little space, ie. Mama needs her own bed, but it’s not always that simple. This is my main focus you see. However, it’s not always been that simple for me to find somewhere. That is, until I was introduced to Airbnb!
