Finding myself about to kick off my fifth official year covering The Toronto International Film Festival for #DoTheDaniel, I have come to realize how many people work behind the scenes to make the magic of #TIFF season happen. While you can click here to learn about the faces and places of #TIFF19, I wanted to take the time to thank the people who work behind the scenes to do things a little differently.
Over the last ten years, the team at EGPR have run The Essentials Lounge – an experience not tailored to the celebrities and red carpet walkers, but rather the media who will work harder than they do most of the year for the ten days of TIFF. A decade of doing things differently, I am honoured to be attending again this year and bringing you BTS with me on our Instagram account.
Over the years we’ve gone BTS at one of my favourite experience of festival season – click here to see some of those moments!
So, what brands do I get to chat with on September 4th before the craziness kicks off? Well… let me tell you about them!
Aveda will be offering Essentials Lounge invitees makeup touch-ups as well as brow shaping services to celebrate the launch of their Brow Definer. This multitasking brow pencil comes in four colour-complementing shades and is enriched with a balanced blend of botanically-derived emollients, conditioning agents, waxes and minerals. Brow Definer delivers a smooth application and long-wearing colour that’s smudge-proof and resistant to water, sweat and humidity.
CAROLINA HERRERA NEW YORK
Carolina Herrera New York will be in the lounge, with featured fragrance Good Girl Dot Drama Eau de Parfum – a new Collector Edition inspired by the emblematic Polka Dot pattern. This is the first Good Girl collector’s edition, exclusively designed by Carolina Herrera de Baez, creative director of perfumes, with Karlie Kloss, supermodel and entrepreneur.
Featuring products by KERASILK, the brand’s luxury hair care line, the Goldwell artists will ensure that no trend question goes unanswered, no mane remains unmanageable and not one scalp is neglected.
Hayu, the first all-reality subscription video-on-demand service from NBCUniversal International– will be at the Essentials Lounge with a luxe screening area featuring highlights of their fall programming lineup. Complete with wireless headphones to assist in blocking out adult responsibilities, guests of the lounge are invited to literally kick their feet up and enjoy a relaxing reflexology treatment while taking in the entertainment.
MOXIES BAR & GRILL
The culinary heroes of Moxie’s Grill & Bar will be in the Essentials Lounge to help fill bellies and feed the souls of invitees. As one of the largest players in the premium casual restaurant category, their menu offers classics with a twist and globally-inspired dishes. Guests will have the chance to enjoy a generous serving of signature items, and celebrate a moment of pre-TIFF bliss with custom cocktails.
Knowing just how hard it is to face the day when an unreasonable to-do list enters consciousness before the first sip of coffee has been consumed, the Morning Expert line features anti-skin-fatigue natural active ingredients and “brain sharpening” essential oils. Media guests will be treated to an all-natural express facial and learn about what exciting products are ahead for This Works, which recently announced news of their acquisition by Canopy Growth, a Canadian company renowned for innovative and ethically-conscious commercial cannabis operations, similar to other health and wellness companies such as Zx Craft Co CBD operating in the UK, offering patients to live a healthier and happier life with the use of the chemical compound CBD found in marijuana. You’ll of course remember we’ve loved the brand for a long time – so I’m excited to restock for the house with Julio to get some sleep ten days after the festival starts! Within a booming cannabis industry, companies are working to promote health and wellbeing amongst their users. Some often turn to cbd digital marketing companies similar to Marijuana SEO in order to expand their customer base.
A brand that you all know I love and cherish as a part of my beauty routine, AlumierMD’s Clear Shield Broad Spectrum Sunscreen (SPF 42) is a lightweight, non-comedogenic, 100% physical broad-spectrum facial sunscreen. The main ingredients include Titanium Dioxide, Zinc Oxide, Niacinamide, and Sodium Hyaluronate. The product is untinted and intended for normal to oily, sensitive, redness-prone, and acne-prone skin. Accessorize with chic glasses and a hat to complete the look. #alumiermd
Coming to the Essentials Lounge with their flavour-packed and clean hydration options, ROAR Organic’s line of organic low-calorie electrolyte infusion beverage are infused with organic coconut water and full of b-vitamins. They’re gluten-free, non-GMO, and all-natural. Their Canadian Organic Certified hydration is designed to help you reset, refresh, and rejuvenate.
These and many amazing media friends will be sure to create the most incredible #EssentialsLounge10 experience and I cannot wait to bring you along with us for it all. Of course, don’t forget to check out FASHIONIGHTS for his BTS and favourite moments from #EssentialsLounge10 over on his blog and social media here. Thank you again to EGPR and all of the participating brands for hosting us during TIFF. We can’t wait to see what the next decade of doing things differently looks like!
