Health & Nutrition | #StartBreathing with GEOX Nebula

I love being in the outdoors.  Maybe it’s the little tree hugging, hippy granola lady that lives inside of me speaking, but I crave a solid connection with the earth on a regular basis.  And I’m talking more than just my two feet planted on the concrete.  I mean those running jumps into a patch of wildflowers, the feeling of sand between my toes, the ocean lapping at my smiling face, the warm summer sun beating down on my back, breathing in fresh mountain air… the closer I can get to nature, the better.

The minute I’m near a patch of grass, I feel the need to whip off my shoes and dig my toes into the earth.  I may even feel inclined to lie down and close my eyes, breathing deeply.  Connecting yourself to the earth, both physically and mentally can do wonders for your health.  Scientists are even exploring the importance that the earth’s energy cycles have on our own body’s cycles and on their many important roles.

Studies have shown the positive effects that grounding (or earthing) can have on regulating your immune system, your nervous system, hormones and even sleep patterns.  Being physically connected with nature can also influence brain activity, help to manage stress levels and provide overall balance to your endocrine system.

As much as I would love to walk around barefoot all the time, that’s just not realistic for my lifestyle.  Or for most people, really.  So when I choose a shoe, I want to make sure that I still feel connected to the earth, while being comfortable and looking stylish.  That’s why I’ve fallen in love with the GEOX Nebula.  GEOX is the premier Italian footwear brand known for its invention of the “shoe that breathes”

The GEOX Nebula is built to contain special breathing systems.  One in the interior lining, with spacers that create free space between the foot and the lining.  This helps to facilitate natural body temperature regulation, all while keeping your feet cool and dry.  The net breathing system is a membrane in the sole that lies beneath the entire foot, allowing air to flow freely throughout the shoe.  Combo that with grip and natural flexibility and you have the perfect footwear for exploring the outdoors.

So, that’s what I decided to do with mine.  And now, here’s my challenge for you.  Get outside and connect with the earth today.  No, you don’t have to throw your shoes off and run through the forest – just do what feels right for you.  Allow yourself to take in each moment as it passes, be present and kick all of those other thoughts to the curb.  Oh and remember to have a bit of fun while you’re at it!
