There’s Still A Lot to Do

It was earlier this year as I began another campaign with the blog for a brand that we had worked with a few times over the year. At the time, I hadn’t decided to put down the proverbial torch I had been carrying on my own for the blog to begin looking for a new career. It was still my all, my everything, and for the most part the only thing that was keeping me afloat. Faced with finding a way to showcase happiness, I made myself presentable, set up the product in my kitchen and shot the campaign photos and video.

I was happy with the results and thought I even looked good in the photos (something I don’t often say about myself while I work on being a healthier version of myself physically, emotionally, and mentally). When the campaign went live, I could never have imagined the amount of hateful and abusive comments I would get online about being a gay man. The campaign went viral, but in the wrong way. The sad part is that it’s not the first time strangers have wished me dead, told me I was evil, and chastised me on the internet just for being myself and doing what I love. Although it is 2019, the fact remains that there’s still a LOT to do.

Long Weekend Vibes

Now that I’ve been to Canada’s Wonderland for Media Day (click here to watch the highlights on our Instagram account), I’m already trying to sort out exactly how many visits I can get in this season with my Gold Season Pass to the park. How Are You Joining In On McHappy Day?

Many years ago – over twenty tbh – I was a teenager looking for my first job. Living in Orleans, Ontario (a suburb in the east end of Ottawa), I brushed up my first ever resume and walked through the doors of the McDonald’s at the corner of Tenth Line and Innes Road. Following in the footsteps of my Dad who also got his first job at that age in Montreal, I landed my first job with a company that would shape not only my work ethic, but my dedication to charities like RMHC Canada. Today as I celebrate #McHappyDay 2019 I wanted to take a moment to thank McDonald’s Canada for so many ways for us to help them raise money for families that need it most and for continuing to be a driving force in Canada for communities and support.

25 Years of Iconic Performances

Lately I’ve been looking back on the path that has lead to me to where I am today. Over five years Do The Daniel has grown and evolved, hosting some pretty spectacular content with you all. Before my career in the blogging world, I worked in marketing. Prior to that I adamantly wanted to be a talent agent in the music industry. I am the BIGGEST fan of Canadian music (hence why being an official JUNOS blogger was so epic for me!) and still have every CD I ever bought in our spare room of the house. When I was invited to preview the Budweiser Stage 25th anniversary exhibit “It Happened Here” I got really excited to walk down memory lane at one of Canada’s most iconic venues.
