How I Celebrate The Important Moments

Saturday October 12th and it’s exactly five days before my thirty-sixth birthday. Being that the coming week is set to be one of the busiest for me personally and professionally, I decided that I would celebrate my birthday a little early with Julio to make sure it’s not forgotten like it was last year. Now that I live outside of Toronto, I find it hard to think of places to stay when I do come into town for a visit. Generally, I spend time with friends or family, but sometimes it’s nice to just treat myself to a night away somewhere. At thirty five years old in the heart of the summer, I find myself googling costume ideas. No, not for October 31st. But for August 22-25th in the heart of Toronto. Why you ask? Well it’s one of my favourite times of year again – it’s FAN EXPO Canada. From Pokémon to Nintendo, cosplay to fan art, we’re in for one of the best #FANEXPOcanada years yet and I’m here to tell you why.

A Getaway Idea That Won’t Break The Bank

As someone that has been trying to pinch his pennies and stick to an excel spreadsheet budget that stares me in the face as I sit down to write this post, I can usually be found scrolling through travel accounts on Instagram or following along with my favourite bloggers while they jetset around the world. Although that once was the life I called my own, I’m actually much happier to be where I am today, saving for a baby with my husband and working towards our dreams.

That being said, just because I’m on a budget, doesn’t mean that I don’t want to take full advantage of the warm weather and enjoy getaways whenever we can. Thankfully I was recently introduced to a getaway idea in our own proverbial backyard that not only stayed in budget, but left me excited to tell you about it too!
