A Stay at One of Toronto’s Finest Luxury Hotels

Now that I live outside of Toronto, I find it hard to think of places to stay when I do come into town for a visit. Generally, I spend time with friends or family, but sometimes it’s nice to just treat myself to a night away somewhere. One where I can pamper myself a bit and maybe experience what it’s like to be some place totally different than the norm of every day life.

This summer, I was lucky enough to be able to meet up with another friend from out of town in Toronto, in order to attend a concert filled with bands from our youth (click here to read all about it!). We knew that if we were going to spend the weekend together, we’d want to stay somewhere really nice, with easy access to anything we felt like doing. Which, to be honest, was a lot of shopping and eating good food, since we both now live in places without many options in those areas.

So that’s why we chose The Hazelton Hotel. Located right in the center of Yorkville and designed by Yabu Pushelberg, it’s the first true luxury hotel in Toronto in my opinion. All 62 rooms and 15 suites are beautifully designed with custom furnishings and private balconies. This provides an immediate feeling of intimate luxury. And trust me when I say that we were floored from the minute we entered our room.

They’re a pet friendly hotel, upon request, if you’re looking to bring your fur family along with you. They also offer child services, including babysitting, and special offers and packages tailored to the season and events going on around the city. One of the elements that makes this property so special is the art experience. With a focus on Canadian artists, the hotel features a variety of original paintings, photographs and sculptures. Each one highlights the diversity and style that embodies Yorkville Village.

Attached to the hotel itself is ONE restaurant, headed by Chef Mark McEwan, of the restaurant group McEwan Group. This contemporary hotspot features a beautiful well-stocked bar, stunning dining room for both day and evening seatings, as well as a tree-lined candlelit patio. Experience dishes with classic French and Italian flavours, paired with local fresh Ontario produce. ONE also offers 24-hour in-room dining and private catering to the hotel guests. Rumour has it that the restaurant itself is also the place to see or be seen by some of the biggest stars living in and visiting the city.

Since we were in the mood for some serious pampering (I mean, who isn’t?), we both opted for treatments at the Spa by Valmont, which offers luxurious facial and body treatments, alongside specialized massages. I experienced one of the best mani pedis I’ve ever had, from a warm, friendly and knowledgeable aesthetician. My friend, who had just found out she was in her first trimester of pregnancy, was thrilled to go for the relaxation massage and loved every minute of it. We left our spa session with smiles and a few Valmont goodies in tow.

Whether it’s for a staycation, a visit to the city with loved ones or a day trip to the area for some shopping, pampering or great food – The Hazelton Hotel is the place to be. I can’t say enough good things about the room, the friendly staff, the amazing spa, the ideal location and the overall experience. My only issue is that I’m not still there right now.
