Thoughtful Themes for Grateful Guests

What will be the theme for my 2017 New Year’s Eve Celebrations? What to serve? (I got that down already thankfully – click here & here) What to wear? How will we ring in the new year? These are just a few of the questions I ask myself every year that I decide to, or am nominated to, host this special night. Of course, everyone knows that I love to entertain and am pretty darn good at it, but that creates an expectation from my friends and family that I will continually outdo myself from the last shindig.

Luckily one of my party-planning friends asked me if I had ever checked out the Indigo Chapters Holiday 2017 Gift Shop? Say what, I responded? I LOVE Indigo obviously! It may be my source for my book club – especially when our current selection is 50 Shades Darker! – but I hadn’t realized all the perfect items I could pick up to theme a party or NYE event.

I had previously (and successfully completed) “New Year’s in the Dark”, “Dickens Rings in 1815” and “Daniel Makes Your Spirits Bright”, as examples of themes. Not wanting to repeat the near-miss centrepiece fire, while lighting the Baked Alaska with the lights off, the Scrooge-like fight over the turkey leg (a turkey wing’ll do) or the accidental brightening of my husband’s scotch to 60% ABV, I turned to the experts at Indigo.

Starting with a gold/silver theme, the table will be draped in elegance from the Holiday 2017 Joy of the Table collection.

With the house smelling of Mulled Cider and Cinnamon (mmmm)

I will serve a beautiful assortment of appetizers and sweet treats to my guests served on charming dinnerware.

We will spend the evening playing games and reading passages from hand-selected books I will give to each of my closest and dearest friends. The wine will be uncorked and flowing all night, served in beautiful frosted glasses.

Shortly before the magic hour, I will bring out the Thimblepress Push Pop Confetti in preparation for the magic moment when everyone will yell “Happy New Year!” and I’ll kiss my husband for the last time in 2017.

As we we ring in a new and exciting year, I will be sure to thank Indigo for making my hosting reputation even better!

Next year I’ll be sure to turn to Indigo to help with my “Ring in New Year’s as your Favourite Celebrity” bash. I’ve been told I make a great looking Marilyn!
