The countdown is on to another successful Holiday season and I don’t know about you, but I could certainly use a break. For those of you from or visiting Toronto during the festive season, Shangri-La Hotel Toronto has just the right ways to take a few minutes to relax and unwind. Be it an afternoon with the ones you love or a much needed night out, Shangri-La Hotel Toronto is definitely one place you should be over the next few weeks, no matter if you’re on the naughty or nice list.
Over the years I’m sure you have come to realize the quality and caliber of the hotel with our various visits and collaborations.
There are several options currently taking place at the hotel to meet match your Holiday schedule or just to take a little bit of time for yourself. Here are a few of my favourites:
Nutcracker High Tea
Few images inspire thoughts of the Holidays more than that of The Nutcracker. Be it the animated version for children or the classic Ballet that is touring around this time of year, the iconic story is one that warms the heart. ” Inspired by the Nutcracker ballet, Executive Chef Damon Campbell and his team of expert pastry chefs have created a new Nutcracker High Tea menu with themed Nutcracker pastries such as: the “Waltz of the Snowflakes” a peppermint scented milk chocolate mousse, cocoa sponge and white chocolate snow; the “Battle of the Nutcracker and the Mouse King” a stollen spiced cheese cake with citrus bavarois and candied lemon; and the “Drosselmeyer’s Entrance” a brown butter hazelnut financier, praline cream and dark chocolate glacage.”
I don’t know about you but the artistry and description had me salivating when I first read about The High Tea for the Holidays presented in a way that only Shangri-La Hotel Toronto could execute. I am sure to make sure to find time during the Holidays to sit down and enjoy the sumptuous sweets and you should do the same!
* The Nutcracker High Tea is priced at $42 per person or $25 per child and is served daily from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. in the Lobby Lounge.
Champagne Wall
Just the name should be reason enough to get you into the iconic lobby of Shangri-La Hotel Toronto, wouldn’t you agree? The hotel’s exclusive Champagne Wall launched earlier this year and might just be one of the most spectacular things I have experienced during my regular visits to the Hotel for dinner, drinks, a stay or the spa. With a selection of Champagne (including but not limited to) such as Perrier Jouet, Billecart Salmon and rare champagnes such as the 1998 Henriot Cuvée des Enchanteleurs. Champagne is served by the glass starting at $20.00 and this is the perfect location to cheers to the Holidays and your very own special moments.
Christmas Dining at Bosk
Our experiences at Bosk have been some of our favourite foodie moments of 2014. With an exclusive Christmas Eve dinner starting at 5:00 p.m. for $95 per person, those of you staying in the city have a delicious alternative to slaving away at home. “With items ranging from Foie Gras Torchon with concord grape and roasted hazelnuts from California to appetizing entrées such as the Butter Poached Nova Scotia Lobster or the Cumbrae Farms aged Beef Rib Eye to name a few.” I am SO excited for those of you who chose to indulge this Holiday season at one of my favourite restaurants in the city.
New Year’s Festivities
I have never been a big “New Year’s Eve person”, but if I was to make a short list of places to be this year to celebrate the end of 2014 and the beginning of 2015, Shangri-La Hotel Toronto would definitely be on the list. Amid the beautiful ambiance, amazing Champagne (fully stocked and ready for you as noted above!) and great company there will also be some special treats for a special day.
“The Lobby Lounge will feature a themed party called “Fire and Ice” with live performances byThe World Is Yours Band with a midnight countdown and champagne toast. Guests can purchase “Fire and Ice” tickets which include a seafood, cheese and charcuterie open buffet at 8:00 p.m. starting at $188 per person. On New Year’s Day guests can begin 2015 with a three course brunch from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. starting at CAD$55 per person.”
All in all Shangri-La Hotel Toronto is in full swing for the Holidays with options for any kind of person and any kind of schedule. I love the versatility of it all and these Holiday options are just a few of the amazing things happening at the hotel in the next few weeks.
